Any evidence multiplayer has even been looked at?

They said they would as a kickstarter goal, but we have no actual evidence of it so far to my knowledge. Would be nice to see some screenshots of the code or something or the research process thus far. It is 100% possible the devs aren't and have just decided to act as if they are researching it.

This MEGATHREAD is dedicated to multiplayer ideas and discussion. Specifically, ideas you have to make The Escapists into a really awesome multiplayer experience.

Please Note: Multiplayer is NOT CONFIRMED for The Escapists. We are currently investigating the possibility of implementing a multiplayer game mode, however until those investigations are complete we cannot promise that the game will be updated to include a multiplayer mode. We will keep you informed.

Note that if you create any thread related to multiplayer outside this MEGATHREAD, it may be moved here, locked or confiscated by the forum guards.

So you put the code into selling us another product instead of implementing it into the game you said it would?

The game engine, Multimedia Fusion, doesn't support multiplayer currently and Team 17 doesn't control Clickteam, the company that has made Multimedia Fusion. However, when choosing an engine to build Escapists 2 with they made sure to choose one that could support multiplayer capability. If Clickteam updates Multimedia Fusion to include multiplayer functionality I'm sure Team 17 would look into implementing it in the Escapists (1), since they have said they would many times.

I can see how there can be some confusion but the video you posted, the Megaman fan project, is made with MMF2 while the Escapists is made with just MMF meaning they are NOT the same engine and that MMF2 is probably more advanced with more capabilities.

I hope you're finally satisfied that Team 17 is doing all they can to make Escapists a better game and that it's really just a better decision to design Multiplayer in from the ground up than try to shoehorn it into an engine that won't accept it.
