Suicide Relative, Should I Play?

I've been interested in trying this game since before the Kickstarter. I've had it installed and was planning to play some time this month. But last week I unexpectedly lost a family member to suicide. Now I don't know if playing will be therapeutic or too close to home.

I've never had serious depression or suicidal thoughts myself. My previous interest in the game was to see how an indie game could handle the difficult subject matter.

Is there anyone with a similar situation or who has played the game and can tell me what to expect? Should I give it some time before playing?

Definately give it some time. This game is just one depressing fact after another, but behind it all is that you should do something before your life goes to ♥♥♥♥.

Yup Yup give it some time until you get over it. It's a beautiful game though, once you get over it definitly give it a try.

I know you posted this a while ago, but I lost a family member to suicide too, about two and a half years ago. I honestly don't think playing it would be "therapeutic" in the slightest. It hurts, and I was nearly in tears at some points. If you're *really* interested in playing, you'll want to have some kind of shoulder to lean on afterwards. It's a bummer, to say the least.

Definitely, defeinitely, DEFINITELY play this. Especially if you want to learn to empathaize with someone you love.

Yeah you can play it if it does not fit your relatives characther ( Meaning, That your relative did not go through the same things as Evan, the game protagonist did)
