This game is amazing, first off. Days after finishing it I still ponder the ending. A bit short for the price, however. I understand what this developer was trying to say and get through to us. More games like this need to exist, anyone have any suggestions?

To the Moon is the only title that comes immediately to mind that bears similarities to this one. I'm sure there are others, but not that I have played personally.

graphical-wise you can try retro-looking adventure games. they are controlled differently - with the mouse usually, contrary to the WASD movement in TTM or Actual Sunlight - and may offer a bit more gameplay like classic item combination and using. Right now I'm playing Richard & Alice. The "Ben & Dan" adventures are relaxing and funny too while asking your brains too. There are some interesting free adventures out there too, like the Chzo mythos series (7 Days A Sacrifice, 6 Days A Stranger and so on). Some pretty heavily-themed adventure game that has some elements of depression and suicide too is (afaik, never played it thus far myself, but its on my backlist) "I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream". It's on Steam too.
