We are in the slightly tricky situation whereby the likenesses of the Japanese trains have to be licensed from the real life owners of those designs (i.e the train companies) and while there is a license to use the liknesses for the Japanese release of A-Train 9, in some cases, no such license yet exists to allow us to put some of these in the Steam release.
I must stress, this isn't an issue with the Artdink, this is the actual real life train companies. The licensing rules in Japan are somewhat different to those we might be used to in Europe or the USA.
We understand this could be an issue, and we are looking to solve it and are approaching a solution on two fronts;
Firstly, we are actively looking to get these licenses and have the trains available. This may not be in time for launch.
Secondly, we are in negotiation with other rail companies (Currently European ones) to allow us to add their trains and rolling stock licenses - trains which the Japanese version does not have.
It is also our intention to update the game with new trains when possible after release. Where any financial implications allow, these will be free updates.
We are also hoping to add this new release to the Steam Workshop to allow users to share track and layouts designs.
The major patch thought with new mechanics, fixes, UI updates and the extra long list of features should be released ASAP!!!
@Gnosis. Yes V3 is the latest version. All patches and all "Premium 3" features included. Steam trains, P-in-P, metros, Y junctions, 4K support... It's a new SKU. Released as a new product in Japan as recently as June this year.
The delay is for localization. I hope to have a "Quick start" manual for you guys to see some time next week. This will highlight the changes between Premium 3 and other versions in particular.
What will be the upgrade paths offered?
Will there be an option for reduced price for owners of v2.0? What about people that don't have v1.0 on steam?
Am I reading the situation right?
I've bought recently an electronic only version of the game and it says version 1.00 build 001. Is the current Steam version newer than that? I don't want to pay twice for the same product. Also is there any chance to get a Steam key if I have already bought the game out of the Steam?
I can't wait for the version 3, i'ts so bad I can't even update to version 2 :(
I'm a little confused.
Should a new player be buying this game from Steam right now or should I wait or get it from somewhere else?
Is there no one who can tell if V3 will be a completely new game or DLC?
Is it a waste of money to buy the one that is on Steam right now?
