Graphics Problem X3:Reunion ubuntu 14.04

X3:Reunion works fine and looked great up to 2 days ago. Now the planets are just a few lines instead of the marvellous looking gems they were (the game does still work). Since I did some updating on my ubuntu 12.04, I think I messed something up, maybe I deleted/replaced graphics drivers. I have tried a clean install (ubuntu 14.04), tried to find/install graphics drivers (via ubuntu and the intel graphics installer for linux) but have not had succes. Does any one have any ideas?
