Crea Chronicle - 10/19/14

Hey Crea-tins!

Got a lot of news to share today, so let’s dive right in. The first thing we want to make you guys aware of, is that we need to hold the patch back at least a week, bringing our new goal to the 27th. We knew it was going to be an extremely tight schedule when we planned it out and even with working 80+ hour weeks the last few weeks has not been enough. Once we feel confident that we’ve caught the larger issues, and it’s as smooth as we can make it by internal testing, we’ll bring it out to Omega and have the community help us track down more bugs. If all goes to plan, we should hopefully see the Omega test within the next few days, but that is subject to how many issues we encounter between now and then.

One of our focuses right now is the early game experience, improving it in a number of ways. Monsters will now have set levels, allowing you to venture further out for more challenging fights, while keeping things easier around your spawn area.

Jasson has also reduced the amount of recipes you start with before you find the researcher, and the researcher is now found in a run down house nearby. Additionally, spawn is now set in a plains biome, with a cave entrance nearby. Combat is continuing to be refined and polished after taking in all the great feedback from the community. As a whole, these and other changes will help make a smoother experience early on, and give you a chance to learn the basics before being thrown in head first. We still have a long ways to go but progress is progress!
