Crea Chronicle - 6/27/14
Hey Crea-tins!

Time for an update on the update! We don’t want to leave you guys in the dark, so today we want to talk about some of the major changes coming in the next patch. Jasson has been working hard gathering all of your feedback, and translating that into big improvements to Crea. It still needs some time to simmer, but here are some of the game-changers you can expect a few weeks down the road.

MAJOR overhaul to movement & combat: Some have described the current system as clunky, and we’ve heard those voices. Movement is going to be massively changed, and include more action oriented features. Among those will be dodge roll, ledge grabbing, blocking and more! Combat will feel much more vibrant and involved, rather than just poking at the baddies.
Changes to equipping tools & weapons: This is going to be another game changer, and will hopefully improve the sense of smashing hotkeys to do battle. The tools and weapons will now be equipped via the equipment screen, replacing the need to have them all over your hotbar and in your inventory.

Additionally, attacking and using tools will now be attached to a skill. This means you can equip the skill instead, and that will activate the weapon or tool respectively. Players will now be able to change quickly and easily between loadouts, making fighting and working with tools far more intuitive.

There are so many surprises in store, but we want to leave some of them for you to discover when the patch is released. On the community side, there are tantalizing whispers of the Crea community’s first ever community event, coming within the next few months. I am brimming with evil plans there, and I think it’s gonna be a blast! Watch for details on that as we move forward, and be sure you’re signed up for the official forums!

No, it's ok to admit that we're all foaming at the mouth waiting for this. XD

Excellent. I like the idea of having more open spots on the hotkey bar.
I've been dying for a game to realise they should do this. Minecraft can't, because Durability, but in games like Terraria of Edge of Space, why not? You'll always want a tool in case the ceiling falls on your head, and Terraria pretty much has a 'use required tool/item' as a key. Why not let you glue the item on your person so you don't accidentally drop it or something?

Once this pops out, gonna have myself a blast. Ledge grabs sound especially tasty. Haven't seen those in these kinds of games, despite the potential.
Definitely making a video after I futs around with it.
Excited!
