Oh, so NOW the crashing starts!

I have the PC game, along with the Explosive & Tactical packs.

Everything had been running fine, up until half an hour or so ago. I'm 47 hours into the game, still in Detroit. I've had three crashes, two of which happened at the exact same place, as I was running down an alley between apartments. The game locks up, video frozen, sound off. I use CTRL-ALT-DEL to bring up the Task Manager, but there is already a pop-up stating the game has stopped responding and asking to find a fix online (As if that has ever worked!) or shut it down.

And later that same day....

I can make the crash occur with some consistency. Any time I break into the apartment adjacent Garyson's gas station hangout, then run down the alley outside Seurat's apartment, the game crashes as my player reaches the general area of the three hobos huddled by the trash can fire. I've managed to crash the game a dozen times in an hour, but only when I pass through the aforementioned apartment and then run through the alley outside past Seurat's place.

I've verified my files via Steam, which checked out fine. Any other ideas?

I had that briefly, but I avoided crashing in my game by hugging one wall, and the next time I played through it was gone, so I assume that particular save game had gotten corrupted somehow.
