Neverwinter Nights 2: Platinum

Neverwinter Nights 2: Platinum

Jerky character movement
Wanted to get NWN2 and play through and enjoy the romance of this game.. I have a beast machine, so the framerate is fine, but whenever a character moves, they glitch move 2 feet at a time in the direction they are walking.. it feels like i have a ping of 500 sort of lag effect but in singleplayer.. Anyone encountered this problem? Seems a waste of money if the game hasn't been ported to work on windows 7 properly..

It's not an OS thing, I don't have that issue on my machine and I'm also running windows 7 (it runs slowly, but that's just because my computer sucks). Check your settings and maybe see if there could be something on your end interfering with the game.

Do a search for NWN2 client extension. Extract the zip file to your steam NWN2 folder and then restart your computer. problem solved. :)

Tired of games with un-immersive animation? Tired of games making you feel like you are in a game of Hungry Hungry Hippo? Me too.

Not sure if this works without the client extension or in singleplayer games, but you could try writing: /mpredict in chat.

Works on some online servers.

I'm not the original author, but had the same problem (on a sucky PC with Intel graphics). I confirm that the Client Extensions fixed the jerky character movement. Cheers for the tip :)
Had exactly the same problem. Getting 150+FPS on highest possibly settings (and enhanced texture pack mods). The solution was to reboot the computer in my case. Works like a charm now. Still haven't breached FPS below 100 :)

Works great on my rig i5 3570K 16gig DDR3 1600 SLI GTX 670. But then again this game has always worked from the first time I got it a few years ago and several upgrades earler. Started playing this game on Windows XP and now running Windows 8.1 still running great so it has nothing at all to do with the OS or game at all.

I still hit that issue from time to time - full PC restart fixes it for me every time. I have no idea what causes it. I have GTX 560TI 16G DDR3 quad-core AMD

The animation system in NWN2 uses values from your computer's internal clock for timing. If your computer has been running for a long time without restarting then the internal clock's value is too large for NWN2 to handle. For most people, restarting fixes the issue because it resets the clock to 0.

(Of course, there may be other causes for jerky animations. This always does the trick for me. YMMV)

Finally someone has an explanation that tells me why only a reboot fixes the jerkiness movement and not just clearing the game from memory. I do not reboot my PC for months Is there a variable I can edit that can reset this thing or will it cause system unstability.

Well... wouldn't just restarting your computer be easier? Why keep it on for months?
