[SOLVED!!] Game not starting after the DLC Update.

Eureka!! After a series of failed and painful optimization attempts, I've finally managed to get the game working again for old graphic cards! Just update the game and let the magic unravel on your computer and please, if you find another issue, don't hesitate to post it!

Note that the minimum specs still apply, this patch is effective for graphic cards with 256Mb of memory or higher!

Hello everybody,

Apparently the DLC Update comes with a bug to some users that causes the game to crash/close after a long black screen.

I got all your mails to the support account. Thank you very much for all the info.

It seems this is only affecting a very small portion of players, and I'm starting to see patterns where there aren't: most of the players with the issue are Spanish and most of them use Nvidia cards... but I don't see why that should be the problem.

My first theory was that the game now consumes extra RAM and the players who where at the limit of the required specs now aren't able to launch the game. But we've been reported this issue from players with 8GB RAM, so that shouldn't be the issue. Maybe the limit is related to the Graphic Card power.

[UPDATE]: I've been able to reproduce the bug on a 8 year old computer I had a home. It has a Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT, so it seems we were right about the Nvidia issue. Thanks for all your feedback.

I know this shouldn't be an excuse, but please, bear in mind that I'm a single developer and I'm not very skilled technologically speaking (more like a game designer who can program). I'll run this through some colleagues with a more technical background. I hope we find a solution soon.

Friends, I can't get any solutions from the game maker studio community nor yoyogames, so I'm sorry, but old graphic card won't be able to load all the content on Windows. If you want to ask for a refund, please, do so.

[WORKAROUND]

You can still play the old version of Gods Will Be Watching: you have to select a version of the game without the DLC so you can play the old version.

You have to go to your Steam library, right click on Gods Will Be Watching -> Properties... -> BETAS tab -> select no-dlc version

You won't need a code, accept and the old game will start to update in your computer.

Just got the game an hour ago. I have been wanting to play your game since I first heard the title 2 years ago.

I'm Spanish too, and I had the black screen issue only the first time I loaded the game after the DLC patch. I just randomly clicked and the game eventually started in German. After that, I quit the game normally, and the issue has never happened again. It seems that the language selection screen wasn't displaying any text, or something like that...

Just got the game, not starting after a black loading screen . It closes it self.
VGA Driver: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250
MB: ASUS
Core: 2708 MHz (X3)
RAM: 4095 Mb

Silly update: I think I found a way of reducing the graphic toll and I'll be testing the game this night on my old computer. Maybe tomorrow we have the fix!
