Xbox One Controller not working properly after Windows 10 Upgrade FIXED

my Xbox One controller is having a problem with this game. it is like a button is being perminatly pushed. Used to work fine on windows 8.

also having the same issue with Oddworld

Hi all

I have managed to resolve the issue for me on my computer.

With the controller plugged in go to your device manager.
at the bottom the is a Xbox Peripherals container.

On my PC the controller listed was listed as Xbox Controller

I right clicked on this and clicked update Driver Software, then browse for driver and then pick from a list.

My PC had 4 listed in the compatible hardware

Microsoft Xbox One Controller
Xbox Controller
Xbox Gaming Device Version 10.x
Xbox Gaming Device Version 6.2.x

I selected xbox one controller and this seems to have done the trick.

**UPDATE**

You will only see these if you installed the Xbox One Driver on Windows 7/8 and then updated to Windows 10.

Changing to this driver will give problems in other games meaning you will be switching between the drivers all the time.

You can get the original official windows 10 driver (Xbox Controller) to work by going into the game settings clearing the controls for gamepads and remapping them.

I'm going to guess that a controller not working properly with a new operating system on day one even though it worked properly on a previous OS is a driver/OS issue

I tried all my other games and its only this and oddworld that dont work, and both have a similar issue. :/

Tested on: BroForce, Limbo, Battleblock Theatre, Batman Arkham's Serie, Lords of the Fallen, GTA V, Injustice, Mortal Kombat

Issue on: BroForce (keyboard works well, it start messing as soon as you hit a button on the X-One controller)

EDIT: I worked well on the 10240 Build of Windows 10, some times the bug occured but restarting the game was enough to get rid of the trouble)

WORKAROUND: Plug the controller while in the game menu. Works like a charm (maybe hit a key or 2 on your keyboard before)

Yeah, same for me, and i don't have Microsoft Xbox One Controller in driver list.
I wonder if MS know about that problem?

It would appear that you only get the Microsoft Xbox One Controller if you inherited it from a windows upgrade. I have done a fresh install on my other computer and it does not have the driver either.

I have also found that Dying Light only works on the Xbox controller driver, Not the xbox one driver. so I am having to change the driver to suit the game at the minute

It seems that windows 7 driver for gamepad works better sometimes. But in need to be fixed, changing drivers all the time is not a good solution =)

In the past days i also noticed some issues with the controller but not in every game and the problems are mostly in the menu. It skips one menu and jumps to the next one. Yesterday i've reinstalled w10 and today i replaced the cable but that did not fixed it. So it might be driver related or some w10 update broke something.

It sounds like the game is picking up two buttons presses when you are only pressing once - is that correct?

Yes! Though in game it works fine.
