Playing this game without a Joystick

Is it worth it if I don't own a joystick? I have a 360 controller and obviously a mouse and keyboard. Are either of those control methods good?

IT plays well with mouse and keyboard and its a game if you have never played you should not miss just remember to down load the open source installer and you have a great game with great up to date graphics

Plus countless mods and some good stand alone games wing commander saga for one and they are free once you have the game .

Does it support old joysticks? I have a Force feedback 2 that I used a while ago, would it work with this version?

Well one thing I know is that its a pain in the you know what to play this with a keyboard and mouse. So many controls.

i played this as a kid with mouse+keyb and had zero complaints

What i do is play with kayboard with the arrows, just change 8,4,6,2 to up,down,left,right, and them i use 1,2, for till, 8,4,5,6 for shield sectors, i can press them with my right hand.

General Battuta doesn't use a joystick, and he seems happy with it that way. :)

I use a force feedback 2 with absolutely no issues! Win7 64 bit. The force feedback effects even work.

I have also played this with keyboard and mouse exclusively. Joystick is by no means required.

I and many other people play solely with the keyboard; not even using the mouse. This game does not require a joystick by far.

Whats better though, mouse or joystick...joystick makes it hard to target for me.
