Where's the trial version?
I feel like I'm missing something there. As I understand, there should be a free trial, with a $15 1p upgrade, a $10 multip upgrade, and a $25 upgrade that has both. However, when I go to the store page, I only see the $25 full game. I see these DLC upgrade options... but they appear to be upgrades for the full $25 game! I've also tried searching Steam (no trial version shows up) and using the "generate a Steam key" feature (my friends keep getting an error that it's an invalid key). What's the catch?

Hi Kit,

The public trial is no longer available. Friend-gifted trials (which is what the Steam key you have is for) are still intended to be supported, but as an unforeseen technical issue resulting from the removal of the public trial, these Steam keys have stopped working temporarily. We are working with Valve to get that fixed, and this key that you have *should* work within the next week or so. Sorry about the inconvenience and confusion.

Once we get that system fixed, you'll be able to play the trial using that Steam key from your friend, and play with them online. The DLC upgrade options aren't really "DLC" in the traditional sense, these are just ways of going to the full version of the game once you already have the trial version, which is why the upgrade is the same price as the full game (as it's the same thing).

Very complicated. You could solve this problem by set Free on Demand license. So every user on Steam can launch free Trial version without waiting for friends invite

What is the point of this limitation, invites to friends only? You can get more people online by removing the guest pass. This is trial after all

The "Friend's Pack" is, at least as intended, more a benefit of the player who owns the game than to the recipient, since the owner of the game can now play with all of their friends online (of course, the recipients also get the trial version, which is a nice plus). This was inspired by Mario Kart on the Nintendo DS, where if one person owned the game, everyone in the room could play with them. With Tumblestone, if one person in a friend group owns the game, other people can play with them online without having to buy the game themselves.

User Score 3.4 based on 34 Ratings

Not the standard distribution model for Steam anyway
