Ok, Brad...
That was probably your retirement run. Probably.

Holy crap! How long did that take!?
I'm not sure, man. I'll keep trying to get to 50 on Insane, so I'll time my next ones for better detail. Could make for a decent guide someday.

Updated best Normal run shot (first post) and Insane run (second).

Slight coffee high, I don't mind telling you...

Seriously impressive, and I'd love to hear more about

1. Your team mix

2. Your playstyle - In close or at range? Cooly picking enemies off, or weaving like crazy? Favourite buffs? Key threats?

3. How you settled upon them - whether you're playing by feel or you experimented loads to find the right balance

Even if you'd prefer not to share, I think the devs got it right before: ridiculous.
Thanks! :)

As for your questions, let's see:

While I have a preferred team setup nowadays, both the Normal and Insane runs have been successfully repeated a few times with different unit matches, the only constant being the Shaman; 1~2 of them should trigger the totems often enough to buy you time to think - at a certain point of Day2 you'll see it's not really about the damage output, but how well you can keep all three lanes from overwhelming you, and the town drunk simply isn't enough to slow everything down. Hilarious, sure, but not enough. Experiment with the units you like the most, but don't forget to bring these dudes along.

The song buffs really depend on play style. I wouldn't say I'm a person with extremely quick reflexes, so I tend to rely more on Defense than the others to prevent stray shots from killing my units. Someone quicker than me will most definitely benefit from Attack and dishing out more damage in less time.

As for the waves, I'm always more worried with the 4th and 6th than the others.

The 4th brings the football monsters and the suicide goblin cars. If you don't slow down the football monsters right away, they rush, you dodge (hopefully) and they'll keep going instead of coming back to attack you - these strays must be killed quickly or you'll be forced to defend directly in front of the town gem - it ends up being a gamble with their trajectories and tends to screw up the entire run. And the suicidal ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ can take about a fifth of the gem's full health EACH, so they're a priority.

The 6th keeps the suicide cars and adds skeletons (also known as the bane of my existence). Keeping track of all the damn bones flying around gives me headaches when things are sped up. No real recipe for this one; try to concentrate the enemies near their starting points as much as you can (this is the wave I spend more Stuns in by far).

Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot for sharing! I think you've inspired me to play on a little longer... probably not as far as wave 50+, mind :D

@Fred - We need to know... what's your total time played?
Ultima modifica da TreeFortressGames; 12 set 2014, ore 13:37
Sure thing, Alex. Keep us posted on the progress. :)

*checks*

Pushing a little over 40 hours, devs. Hey, I commit to my purchases, lol - I'm not sure what was your discount at Steam launch, 10%? I rarely buy games that aren't on special sales, but I remember liking the pitch. Really wish you guys all the best in this business.
