The combat is both turn based if you compare weapon skills you get about the same.

People say it not an Rpg cause they don't like the story but this just early story parts we getting now the final version going to have stories that help shape the story and setting as a whole. It already an Rpg beacuse it lets you create who you want to be with backgrounds and past jobs. In a lot of ways I'd say it better. It also lets you play coop some thimg Returns said it would never do.

You sir, are Mr Glass-is-half-full.

I guess I don't miss the half missing parts when what they've given us to drink is not very good.

I don't like being sold an MMO and then being accused of "not reading past the name" when if you do read past the name they call it a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ MMO.

It is a mmo, If you can play with other people it is a MMO. There are a mass of people that can play together. You are ASSUMING it means all at the same time. No where does it say that you will play with everyone at once.

MMO = MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER. That means exactly a mass of people that can play together at the SAME TIME. That is the exact opposite of what you just tried to paint it as.

This is just a game with online play. There is no MMO here. MMO is a very well understood genre. Your attempt at spin makes me feel bad for you. So Unreal Tournament, Counter-Strike, Quake, and Battlefield, you would call these MMOs? Nice troll.

Last I checked MMO didn't mean "not singleplayer" lol.

Not to mention there is no massive ammount of players in ShadowRun Online lmao.

I bet you watch fox news too.

They said in final version people can group up in hub. That might count I not going to argue defetions though. But seems to me if 20-30 of more people can fit in same area that counts.

Counts as having multiplayer. Not being an MMO. Trying to claim it as one is just spin and bad spin at that.

CSGO has 30 people playing at once, not even at a hub. Still not an MMO last I checked. Battlefield has more than that. Who called Battlfield 4 an MMO?

I purchased the game to support the franchise. We have to show interest in the development of a Shadowrun MMO game for them to invest capital in it and for that I have no regrets. I have thoroughly enjoyed SRR and was hoping SRO was going to deliver something more akin to the PnP game. I pictured the game as more of a CoD:AW type gameplay with PvE (PvP Arenas) and heavy RPG aspects. I know it can be done and was hoping I'd see it here. Maybe we should get the guys at Sledgehammer to make the real SRO.

Maybe Bethsoft.......

Would've said Gearbox, but well, look at what they did to Sega's generosity with Aliens Colonial marines... But I'm not bagging them out -I love that they are resurracting Homeworld.... I spent so many hours playing that when I should've been studying for exams........ Ah misspent youth........ lol ;P

Its frickin embarassing how far off you are. I would try to explain but clearly you have no idea what the difference between a multiplayer game and a massively multiplayer online game is.
Mechaphantom Mar 3, 2015 @ 11:18pm
If they pull off the hub right it could till be A MMO. A game that was a MMO was Global Agenda back when it ran. It had a player hub to meet at, one open quest area and rest of game play was 5 man parties doing dungions.

If everyone who plays can meet in same hib like they promise and trade, talk and group to quest. It seems MMO to me.

I never got far to Waku but isn't Waku same way? A town a leveling area and rest small groups?

Those who few cheated can post all they want here but should take the advice I and others stated above contact them directly and see if anything can be done for you. You can contact steam and state case. They struck on refunds but if you state on store page and early backing they said it was a MMO. They may be entitled to a refund.

That more effective them posting angey posts but go ahead and do that too, it a free world.

For those who unhappy they not doing pen and paper rules look for the early accus videos they posted starring they would be using own and paper and might have s case.

I rather a few angery players get refunds then risk losing other players to all the negative comments.
Mechaphantom Mar 3, 2015 @ 11:27pm
To save time a game designer should reply to this thread and see if they doing anything about all this anger and if refunds even on the table.

We would love to make a Shadowrun full-blown persistent open world MMORPG - if we had about 50 times the budget (and I am not exaggerating) we might stand a chance. But I doubt Bethsoft or Sledgehammer would be able to make the game you envision on our budget.
We are not blaming anyone for assuming we would make an MMO (or apparently CoD...), we are just saying that the title is misleading and hence we changed it to prevent that. And yes, in our definition Shadowrun is planned as an MMO (similar to how Guid Wars was an MMO), with instanced missions, a central hub with live players inside and the ability to group up to go on missions as well as the various RPG aspects - to us that is already an MMO, but for some it is just a multiplayer version of a normal tactical RPG, because it lacks the massively part of MMO (other than in the hub) and does not have an open world map size. But we never inteded to build World of Warcraft or a 3rd person action game, neither did we advertise this. As the discussion shows the term does mean different things to different people - and this is exactly why we needed to clarify the name.
We have in the past refunded backers who felt we weren't delivering and are happy to try and work with people who feel wronged. However I would encourage people to wait and see if the addition of more MMO style features may raise the attractiveness of the game experience sufficiently for them.

"Falsely advertised as a Shadowrun game. Then they blame YOU the buyer."
