Also, the reviewer in the second video, right off the bat, declared that he didn't care much for the game. And that stance is clearly evident in the video and the way he played the game.
tbh, I don't even take it as a negative (even though that is precisely the reason that zylche posted it) because it just goes to show how people approach games differently. It's called a fluff piece; and it's the reason that most people wouldn't wrap fish in discarded pages of The New Yorker.
The guy (there are many others on YouTube) in the first video has a ton of them and he played the game as if he did care about the game and wanted to have fun.
No game is perfect, they will have issues and it is up to us, the devs, to fix said issues if/when they crop up. That's what updates are for and in fact we have one due out in March for all platforms.
In full sincerity, would you be willing to have an informal private discussion over community relations, store and public perception?
I have all the YouTube video links in a spreadsheet.
I had individual links to the first guy's videos. So I was posting the better ones on Twitter. When I posted the second one, it was just a copy and paste error (I use ClipMate) and I noticed it once I saw the thumbnail and thus removed it. It just so happened that one person also noticed it and Tweeted about it.
The reason I was going to post each of his videos individually is because I wanted to list them in order of how he played the missions. Why? Because the YouTube channel listing doesn't do that to any meaningful degree.
So that's why.
And - once again - as if I have to mention it, I have no problems with constructive criticism. I never have or I wouldn't still be in this business. And it's not like for 20+ years and over a dozen games (do you see me on crowdfunding sites or Greenlight? Guess why that is), I have a second job. No, this is my single career. And with that, I own two software dev companies, have shipped, worked on many projects and manage several teams (internal and external).
So criticism - like everything to do with the public - comes with the territory.
I simply never have - and never will - tolerate trolling, abuse, harassment and inappropriate verse and actions against me. Regardless of the cost, I have - and always will - fight it head on.
That's pretty much the gist of it.
No. I don't take ambushes too well.
I was hoping to have a reasonable discussion where you may understand why this was the case but alas. I am curious why you think a one to one chat under reasoned terms is an ambush. In the future it would be very prudent of you to see things from the customer's perspective. Likewise please appreciate the reasons behind moderating best practices existing.
It seems I am wasting my time: the amount of damage to this game's brand is irrecoverable. I wish you the best in future endeavours and hope you learn from these mistakes.
Nonsense. Now you're saying that just because there is criticism, there is no rendering an opinion or defense of same?
I don't see anything objective about the perceived faults. That's why games - like all forms of media - are subjective. One man's fault doesn't make it a fault. Especially if you don't know how to play the game.
I don't have time to back and watch that tripe. And since my time is more valuable - to me - than yours, you should go watch it again if you are so inclined. It's there. If it wasn't, I wouldn't have pointed it out and run the risk of someone telling me that I'm lying about it.
Plus, you - and your ilk - clearly ignore the first 30 secs of the video in which he lays out his disclaimer.
Though, judging by your posts I would be a fool to believe you, I was just curious, which is why I asked.
I rest my case. You can tell that to my bank account. It's not the first time some disagreeable anon person on a forum has said such things. Yet, here I am. We should all be so lucky.
When people don't have their way and/or their say, the usual recourse is to lash out. Anyway, as I've said before, meaningful discourse is acceptable, trolling and/or personal attacks are off-limits.
As I've said before, meaningful discourse is 100% acceptable. Trolling and personal attacks are not.
