LORDS OF THE FALLEN POSSIBLE APP CRASH FIX (NVIDIA)
Hi peeps.
I found a solution for Lords of the Fallen app crash on my GTX 970 (reference design)
Now I can play LotF @ 1080p, maxed out, Apex Turbulence(PhysX) is ON.

I've made this example using Unigine Heaven benchmark.
You can download it https://unigine.com/products/heaven/download/
Also you will need GPU-Z app http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/SysInfo/GPU-Z/
And MSI Afterburner http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/download.htm or EVGA Precision http://www.evga.com/precision/
And Nvidia GTX 6xx - GTX 9xx graphics card without modified BIOS (GPU Boost enabled).

Using this ^ software you can reproduce my results.

Now look at these 3 screenshots.

1. Stock clocks speed - 1076 core \ 1753 mem \ 1216 Boost\ Power limit 106%
http://i.imgur.com/80vGkLQ.png
LotF don't crash for me.
I've played yesterday more than 2 hours @ max setting + Apex Turbulence ON, without crash.
If you can make same results then I hope your LotF won't crash. Your PerfCap reason graph must be blue only (and grey sometimes, when game level loading occur, menu etc).
So, you must find a balance between GPU core clock speed, thermal limit and power limit. Even if you don't OC your GPU (Nvidia GPU Boost technology will). Lords of the Fallen don't like unbalance for unknown reason.
Make sure you have blue bar only in GPU-Z during Heaven benchmarks loop pass. (and no power or thermal limit (green or purple color))
When you will find a balance (blue bar only) in Heaven benchmark you can launch Lords of the Fallen and play.

2. Stock clocks speed - 1076 core \ 1753 mem \ 1216 Boost\ Power limit 100%
http://i.imgur.com/idy1IpP.png
LotF app crash may occur, since GPU performance is limited by thermal limit.

3. OC - 1260 core \ 2003 mem \ 1400 Boost\ Power limit 106%
http://i.imgur.com/nLPb4tC.png
LotF 100% crash after a while, since OC performance is more than GPU TDP can handle.
I can play any other game with these OC clocks speed and it give we performance boost but it will crash LotF as my GPU core clock speed graph looks like -_---__---_---___----

Gameplay @ max setting + Apex Turbulence ON, without crash for 1 hour.

Please post your results and GPU model here.

So basically, the issue is that GPU manufacturers are applying an unstable overclock to their products? Not really surprising considering the vast majority of software until quite recently, demanded very little of a video card.

No. That OC works in any other GPU demanding game. BF4, Crysis 3, Metro etc.
I can launch any other game or benchmark for days and all will be fine. OC or not.
No problem if user not mess up.
But I must say GTX 9xx series is really "wet" for now. Many people have problems with GPU usage value.
But for some reasons stock or OC GPU crash LotF (in my case). I think reason is Nvidia GPU Boost. Game is too "sensitive" for any speed clock\voltage changes.
GPU anyway will boost core, since there is Boost technology on modern Nvidia cards and people can't disable it (only BIOS flash and the process is risky if something going wrong).

Anyway. I hope someone will try to reproduce this method and share his results after.

Ah yeah I forgot about GPU Boost technology (Dynamic overclocking), you might be right that the game engine could be too sensitive to such changes.

Tried it, but still have crashes -.-

Are you sure you don't have power or temperature limit (green or purple color in PerfCap bar) during whole benchmark loop pass and core clock and GPU voltage are stable and PerfCap is blue only?
Because I have +1 confirmation that this method fix crash.

This might be why I don't experience any crashing or major instability, I've undone the hidden profiles Nvidia now includes with their drivers for Microsoft Windows components (The profiles are configured to put the card in to a power saving mode when the computer isn't doing anything demanding).

By doing this my video card voltage is consistent and doesn't fluctuate, you don't even need to mess with Afterburner or similar software. I have however since noticed that heat seems to trigger a fail safe that limits the performance of my GPU though, so I am using Afterburner lol, but only to change the fan profile and have the fan increase in speed earlier.

I'm using latest GPU-Z and can't see the PerfCap reason graph.

If its about hidden profiles you can just do this. Taken from a video that did it for ArcheAge, just replace the ArcheAge with the name of your game.

To fix this:

1) Download Nvidia Inspector to delete the hidden profile: http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/n...

2) Run the program, next to the driver version there is an icon with a screwdriver/hammer. Click that and you will see all your profiles, select ArcheAge up in the top left.

3) Click the red X in the bar at the top to delete the profile.

4) Close the program, right click on your desktop and open up Nvidia Control Panel.

5) Go to Manage 3D Settings, then Program Settings at the top.

6) Click Add... if you don't see ArcheAge there find the exe for it (something like C:\Program Files (x86)\Glyph\Games\ArcheAge\Live\bin32\archeage.exe )

7) Select your High Performance card, click Apply, and you're all set.

running titan sli with custom bios (gpu boost disabled, constant voltage and clocks forced.
overclocked/underclocked, still crashes...

But you should try this method anyways.

Just check the topic i made here and try it , kind of too lazy to copy paste it :)

I was able to play this game nicelly in 2015 but now just crashes, GTA V, PCars, Watch Dogs sometimes in BF4. It's probally something with voltages in my GPU but I can't change anything in msi afterburner or nvidia inspector to try to fix that.

The game runs fine on a 1080ti. It runs 4k/60fps, with a few settings off max.

on my system ( with gtx 1080) the game began to random crash after another major update of Windows 10 pro (from 13.. to ver 15063)

there are no fixes, for me. (using different versions of video drivers, disabling the game mode in Windows 10, dependencies on the game settings, high/low)

If possible - run on Windows 7 (this helped me to solve the problem of random crashes) or try compatibility mode..
I hope that someday with the next update of Windows 10 this problem will be fixed -).

In fact I was using windows 7 on 2015, now that I'm using windows 10 this crash error happens.
