Hey there,

You can find all the needed info here, on what to do to keep your old save game while moving to a new version:

We removed the 'upgrade' warning on older saved games as they should upgrade properly. You still might lose some stuff if new terrain was added in an area you built in, but we try to do our best during the upgrade process to avoid that.

So upgrading should work. If it doesnt, report the issue you have with the F8 Feedback feature.
That sounds awesome ! Thank you very much Obraxis for the good news !
Thats really cool. Now all we need is the next patch ;)

Thank you! But be sure to backup your save file first if this fails.

I concur :steamhappy:
With all the shenanigans concerning pre-order, DLC on disk / day one DLC, early access, greenlight, crowd funding, Subnautica is a breath of fresh air.
What upgrade process? I'm sure something happened because suddenly I'm seeing 39987 instead of 38227. I must have missed the "an upgrade is available, do you want to install it?" message. So much for saving files before an upgrade/update.
Almost had a severe nuclear reactor incident, since some big roots breached walls and floor of my multi purpose room containing the reactor ;-)

Still one of the best examples of an early access game done right but also a fine example of what is possible on unity.

Well done unknown worlds your part of a small group of company's that is not centred on profit. Long may you stay in business don't go the way of 3d realms.

Alas, my save file did not upgrade properly and I had to manually edit the save file in order to access the new terrain. Some changes appeared after the update (new Reefbacks, etc) but nothing updated at all in the Lost River biome. The above You Tube video was my go-to resource, worked great. There is another thread of people unable to see any of the new Lost River changes as well after the Bones update.
