3089 by Phr00t is really interesting. While its predecessor looked like a Minecraft mod, 3089 is a completely unique game, in both aesthetics and gameplay. It feels just as, if not more niche, but much more accessible. The game provided instructions and generally felt more welcoming at the start.
The visuals in 3089 are much different than 3079, using a smoother style than 3079s blocky voxels. At first glance, the game is really ugly, especially in screenshots. Once you see the game in motion and begin exploring, the world seems dynamic and in some ways, alive.
The combat in 3089 is a bit 'eh' and depends on a combination of luck and skill to succeed. There are tons of quests, and from what I saw of my brief time there is some sort of over-arching story to the game.
I will admit, as soon as I could afford it I spent my money on a hoverboard. It was great fun surfing across a large lake, while being chased by a gunship. I don't know for sure I'll go back to this game any time soon, as it is not really my style. People who like to invest dozens of hours in a game to do quick quests and upgrade their stats will definitely enjoy this. Give it a chance by exploring the world a little, and try to have fun before you close the book on 3089 for its weird graphical style.
