BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger

Crashing on startup for no reason?
I've verified integrity, run the DirectX setup in the install location, added the .exe to the DEP list, any other possible fixes for me to try?

I should probably say that it would seem like the initialization completes according to the assert, I don't get any crash report or error message past the windows 'program has stopped responding'

I had the same problem. I was getting some sort of kernel error. Here's what I just did to get this to run in Windows 7:

Control Panel
System and Security
System
Advanced System Settings on the left side
Advanced tab, click settings under Performance
Data Execution Prevention tab
Make sure "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select" is selected
Click Add
Navigate to your game folder, in my case SteamLibrary/SteamApps/Common/BlazBlueCalamityTrigger/BBCT
Then try to open it again

Still unsure if this is going to be a long time solution since I just got this to work the first time I tried it, but at least I can get the game running.

Good luck!

Had same issue on windows 8.1 x64, this is what worked with me :
- install VS C++ 2005 redistribuable x64
- run direct X setup package with the game
- install Windows Media Player (yes... seems that the game needs WMP in order to run the intro)

getting WMP installed is what fixed the game.

Hope it'll help

I literally get to see a split second of the pre-menu loading, then it CTDs

Yep, it's the same for me. Nothing I've seen will work. Like I said, I've tried EVERYTHING. (DEP list, Run as Admin, Service Packs, Re-download, Install DirectX, and more)

This^ Devs, please fix these problems, we shouldn't have to try 100+ workarounds to play something we paid for... Looking at you too Mass Effect.

I'm having the same issue on my new laptop. It loads to a Black screen and then crashes. My assert.txt is

Begin initializaion. Begin initialize application. Begin load config. Begin initialize credit. Begin initialize renderer. Initialize Renderer. RestoreAllDeviceResource function failed. Error in renderer initialization. Failed to initialize.

The game works fine on all my machines except my laptop (a Lenovo Y50 with a GTX860M running 8.1). I also tried everything that you tried to no avail. I'm starting to think it's my laptop -- it uses the Nvidia Optimus tech to switch GPUs (I also tried running with the integrated GPU and 860M directly). Guilty Gear X2 #Reload, on the other hand runs with no issue.

I guess I could stream the game from my desktop, but I was hoping to play the game without having to do that.

My assert said the game successfully initialized, it just crashes immediately after
