Call of Duty 2

Call of Duty 2

COD2SP_s.exe deletes itself
Midway through the opening cutscene, the game keeps shutting down. The file for single player just ceases to exist for some odd reason, and no matter how many times I reinstall or verify the cache, the single player executable keeps disappearing. Doesn't matter if I run it as administrator, or if I put it into any of the compatibility modes. The game starts up, gives me maybe 45 seconds of time at most, and then closes, removing the executable from my computer.

Does this have something to do with Windows 10? McAfee? I just want to play this game again now that my X-Box 360 copy is no longer an option.

Perhaps your anti-virus software is interferring. Try turning off Windows firewall and any anti-virus programs you may have installed. Lastly, try reinstalling it if that doesn't work.

It apparently is interferring, but not during installation. When the appplication sits idle, it doesn't do a thing. But once I get the single player running, it decides on its own to quarentine the file. As far as I can tell there is no way to tell the antivirus to trust the program, all I can do is see that at this point five versions of the same executable have been quarentined.

It'll probably start working if I pause the antivirus while playing, but bloody hell. This seems like such a hassle since every other game on steam I've got doesn't run into that issue.

This is a way older game though, so extra steps have to be taken in order to get it to work on newer devices and programs.

It just seems odd that the original Call of Duty and the expansion United Offensive goes through without any problems, but COD2 gives my antivirus a paranoia streak.
