+1

Exactly the same error as above, freeze/crash during the intro movie (after a few seconds, the exact time differs) when starting a new game.

i7 4790K, GTX 980Ti, Win7 64bit, also Sound Blaster Z.

Just tested - no help from updating to win 10 creators update rtm

Alright, I think I narrowed the problem down. I switched my standard audio device away from Sound Blaster Z, and suddenly the intro video works without crashes. Switching back to Sound Blaster Z the game crashes again (sometimes right at the beginning, but at the latest when the car makes its first turn on the road).

So it’s definitely got something to do with the Sound Blaster Z (tested it with different drivers, including the latest one from 2017).

Ok thank you for your feedback, I kinda guessed that sound blaster would be the issue here. But the game used to work fine, for me the problem started right after BS5 update.

Ok a temporary workaround for us sound blasterers - rename that Sens_oal.dll file causing the crash in "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\" to something else (I renamed it Sens_oal.dll_ORG). Sound still works (normally I guess?) but this is something we really shouldn't have to do. Please Revolution software help us!

And the sens_oal problem is not the only one, game also freezes everytime if screen mode is changed! Latest geforce drivers did not solve this nor windows 10 update.

Yeah, I’ve also experienced those screen freezes when changing the screen mode. Strangely enough it helps when I Alt-Tab out of the game and then get back in, then after a few seconds the game “unfreezes”, but it surely isn’t ideal. And speaking of issues, I thought meanwhile the game was said to have full controller support, but my wireless XBox-360 controller isn’t working nonetheless.

Edit: Also thanks for the tip with the dll file, seems to work alright in my case, too.

True, I just tested that alt+tab trick and it did work for me too. Serious issues passed through Q&A it seems :(

After a small patch today no improvement, still crashes the same.

Screen mode switching does not crash the game for me on W7x64, but it is incredibly slow (1min+) of seemingly freezing the programme.

Unrelated, I noticed the pausing at the end of certain lines of dialogue has finally been fixed, so thanks for that! That actually stopped me from wanting to complete the game.

Sorry that you're having problems eveyone. Please let me know if the latest update helps.

After the latest BS5 update the sens_oal crash problem seems to be fixed, thank you! Video mode problem is still there I'm afraid.
Thanks for the update, the intro video crash problem is also fixed in my case! But like HorGrath said, changing Fullscreen Mode still freezes the screen, and my Wireless XBox360-controller still doesn’t work (which isn’t such a big problem for me, but the game is advertized as having full controller support).

Great to hear! Regarding the long delay between switching video modes - this is caused by reloading (lots) of assets, so ideally we'd show a progress bar for that. As for the controller problem, have you enabled Xbox Configuration Support (Big Picture | Controller Settings)?

FYI only (and don't plan on testing it any time soon), there was an upload this morning, but much to my surprise it was an upload of 0 kb. Is everything in order with the latest patch?
