Can't play it
It says I need 15 mb of memory. No where did I read that in the system requirements.

same thing, seems we need an unofficial patch installed manually to make the game work, otherwise ive heard its good >.<

The '15 MB' thing is a bug.
The common method to overcome it is to find the 'vampire' applicaton in "\Steam\steamapps\common\Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines" then go into the compatability settings and change it to run in 'Windows XP SP3' mode.
For me, using 'Windows 7' mode fixed it, bizarrely.

Did that, installed the unofficial patch, changed settings as indicated (and then changed them back when it continued to fail). Also installed the official patch, with the same results. I'm running Win 7 x64, and it looks to be a lost cause for me. I should mention that I'm now stuck at the "Problem checking Steam application" error. Changed the settings so the game wouldn't automatically update and restarted the whole system - no improvement.

I actually had to use Windows 7 and not Win XP SP3 in the compatibility settings to get it to run. Also, after setting this, game initially loads with blank screen. Alt+Tab out and go back into the game to fix it.

Ok I made the changes and now it says it can't find steam. But I'll try the windows 7 thing.

Yay, it works! Just change it to windows 7 and open it in steam.

I ran a patch I found online. It also did a whole retex of the game which I kinda like.

Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/Vampire Right click on that and go to compatibility and you can change it to windows 7 there. Then go back to steam and open the program there.
