This seems to be inspired by the game "Entanglement", which you can play for free online. I like this better, enough that I bought it, because it allows enough loops to completely use every path on a given tile, and upon doing so it rewards me with more tiles to work with. I really like that game mechanic, as it makes it possible to fill in every tile in a given map, even though I started with fewer tiles than needed at the beginning.

Also this game reminds me of spaghetti code, both the appearance, and how my brain feels while trying to figure out "where was I going?" I form a plan in my mind, and after laying down several tiles I'm trying to remember where I was trying to go with all this. Because the tiles are random it's very much a "make a compromise" game. While making these compromises, it's very rewarding occasionally to have some big breakout take place and the animations and sounds are invigorating. Just that shot in the arm ever so often that makes me want to keep playing.

Tactically, Oxytone does not have the swap-able tile option that Entanglement has, so I'm flying blind by some extent (which I prefer, so I don't overthink like I did in the other game).

I wholeheartedly recommend this as a chill game to hang around and take your time with.

It does however have something I don't like, which is that the keys can't be remapped. This is especially annoying when I like to play on a laptop, and the game assumes you have a middle-mouse button. Sorry, but I just will not bother myself to sit at a table and hook up a mouse, when I would rather lay back on the couch using the touch-pad. I can work around this with Voice Attack, but it's still inconvenient, and ideally I could remap the middle-mouse button to some other key on the keyboard.

If you still aren't sure, just play the demo. I played the demo at least for an hour and a half and decided "this is silly - just buy the game already!" Hopefully you'll enjoy it too.

bought this very lovely tile line-continuing hex game on a whim, it's very good, very calming/focusing. can see the strategy will develop over time as i play. the achievements are good challenges and I can see how it'll build up over time as I have more tiles in my stack and the maps get more complex!
