As of 0.7 the other 2 character classes are completed! This brings the pool up to 4 unique classes, each with kits suited to their own playstyle. I am looking to add some polish in-game to make class info a little more accessible, so that players can really get the most out of their choices.

The Gunslinger

Abilities
Called Shot: Mark all enemies in a rectangular area, then summon a phantom revolver to shoot all nearby marked enemies
Double Up: Summon a phantom revolver for 12 seconds that shoots nearby enemies when they take damage
(Passive) Quick Clear: Gain a stacking reload speed buff for each hit. Lose all stacks when missing a shot.

The Wanderer

Abilities
Shoulder Check: Dash a fixed distance, colliding with any enemy enemies will stop dash and deal AoE damage
Unleash: Gain a large boost to movement speed, melee attack speed, and melee damage. Continually burns mana until empty, at which point the buff deactivates
(Passive) Will To Survive: Gain 5 mana for each enemy hit with a melee attack

FIXES

- Fixed some terrain objects that enemy navigation would get stuck on
- Fixed several cases where networked bullets would phase through terrain
- Moved the character select location in camp to accommodate the increased amount of classes.

Today is a minor update that changes up some of the tile layouts as well as adding a new weapon type: staves.

Mana Staff

Fires a concentrated beam of mana. Rather than consuming bullets, this weapon consumes mana to fire!

Tile Updates

I wanted to add more verticality and choke points to existing tiles, and have added some obstacles and bridges to the map to reflect this

AI Changes

To accomodate the above, AI have gained the ability to clamber, just like you

- Mana Potions drop much more frequently early on, losing drop rate over time

FIXES

- Removed physics sim from most bullet types as it was unneeded. This drastically reduces CPU load in the chaotic late-game.
- Fixed passives sometimes being applied twice on controller

Hello! I have been very busy with personal life stuff the last couple of months but I am finally back in the saddle and happy to announce the release of West of the Witchland's first significant new system! Two new NPCs have been added to the main camp each with their own function. With the foundation for camp NPCs set up I am excited to add more dialog and depth to the existing characters as well as add new ones in the near future.

Chef

An uncorrupted Gnoll saved from the wastes, players can pick foods off of his rotating menu to obtain per-run stat buffs

Gunsmith

An ex-bounty hunter turned smith, she keeps track of the firearms you've discovered, and with enough use of them can improve their handling for permanent stat buffs

- Added a character stat window to the inventory menu for better tracking of status & buffs
- Improved controller aim assist feel by changing the snapping to a more subtle behavior
- Updated portal visuals - this has been on my to-do list for awhile, the portal is now a proper object in the environment rather than a floating sphere
- Motion Blur Visual Effect - Some new post-processing that I think adds a lot to the game visually. This can be tweaked and/or completely removed in settings

BALANCE

- Slightly increased Gatling Gun damage
- Enemy aggro radius decreased

FIXES

- An issue with graphics settings resetting when loading a level has been fixed
- Optimized enemy AI performance to be less CPU intensive
- Various UI navigation bugs fixed

Thoughts from demo

Played through 2 levels on the demo and wanted to give some feedback. Love the theme and the style. The character models show this off really well, but the environment is pretty bland. More unique bits of decor would make it feel more interesting running around. Enemies need more indicators they're attacking or hit you. There's not much sound and its hard to tell when you're getting attacked. Especially the rifle guys who seem to attack much sooner than I would expect. The enemy that shoots the huge bull...
