absolutely amazing soundtrack and atmosphere
combat is pretty fun as well

not that long of a game but it was really good nonetheless

I don’t know why. This is my favorite game for the last few years. It’s just a nice chill game with some decent combat and cool narrative that lets your imagination fill in the blanks of what’s going on.

Def one of the best games I randomly picked up on sale. Amazing Soundtrack, Great Art, and extremely good gameplay. Fun and challenging bosses that aren't too difficult but extremely enjoyable and satisfying to fight. Personally I don't enjoy many of these games but this one was too damn good.

Easily the worst control scheme of any game I've ever played... Whoever thought the dash should move with the cross-hair instead of the direction you are moving should never be allowed to touch a computer again in their life... I keep coming back to this game every so often because I feel like it had so much potential to be good, but it is just awful... That and it forces full screen on an ultrawide monitor, and the cross-hair can go off the screen and disappear...

A bit slow to start, but once you get used to the controls, really fun.
Good sound design and effects for the 16 bit game.
Was long enough for me to enjoy it through to the last boss, but there is more to collect for those who want to stay on.

There is a boss rush mode, but I wish there were more bosses. I was sad to see the achievement that I had beaten all of them.

Would recommend to most. :)

Its feels so good, so fluid, the speed is good. The boss at the left side is very fun to fight, great footsteps and charge.

Finally writing a review two years later...

When I first finished this game, I had mixed feelings. 'Meh', summed up Hyper Light Drifter. It was difficult, and a bit frustrating at times. But, recently, I've been thinking about this game a lot, and I only remember the good stuff. Maybe the time I spent playing this was more fun than I thought.

I'm excited to play through this game again a few years down the line. I think that says plenty about the game.
