Last Elevator in the Chimney Level... Its not working for me

Ok.. I did the Chimney level, got the hover power, went on to do the clock level. I then ran into the glitch wth the last cork you are supposed to get back from the black ant, so had to restart the level with the "autosave" feature you can find buried under the save menu.. TAda.. i made it through it and carried on.. finally got to the lake room with the fish sculptures.. went to try to hover over to the diary page on that one rock.. and no hover.. Soo I back track through the catepillar room go back up to the chimneys.. go through all the flag flipping to the last flip.. And no matter what I try I am not able to get back on the elevator. I know its timed, I did it once before.. I know how it works.. but this time NO MATTER HOW I TIME IT... Violet does this stop thing and then wont walk onto the bridge. Does anyone have any suggestion on how to get by this? I love this game, but this is too frustrating. PLease Help....

No, My hover is gone. I got it the first time I went to the Chimney level.. At some point during the Clock room when the last cork glitch happened with the black ant, my hover simply dissapeared.
The second jewel on the necklace is dark.. I dont have the hover, and each time I try to run the Chimney level now to get it again, I get to the last task, and can not get on the elevator, no matter how I time it. I walk past the flag and flip it, and one of two things happens.. Violet will walk to the edge of the ledge, but won't go forward to the bridge. Or, I get her to flip the flag, make it onto the elevator, but the blue flag flipped back to the right again on its own.
