Some Portraits from BG1 EE dont transfer to BG2 EE!!

Like the title says.. My main is a Cavalier and i picked the portrait of the guy in the golden armor with the golden shield and it isnt a portrait you can pick when creating a new character in bg2. So basically if i want to play my character from bg1 as it stands i have to play the game without a portrait.. awesome.

isn't that from the custom portrait dlc thing? bg2ee doesn't have that.

i'd recommend you make your own. it's not hard.

It's all there.

Except, wherever it says "Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition" folder in your My documents, substitute it for bg2ee.

It's a simple copy-paste job really. As long as you have a bg:ee folder in your my documents with your saves and portraits you can just transfer them over.

Theres on slight wee problem with all that.. and thats the fact that when I import my file from bg1 it does not alow me to select a custom portrait. It doesn't allow me to select any portrait at all. It just loads with a blank space.

Actually, scratch that. You want to copy over the specific downloaded portrait of the guy in the gold armour, right?

Not sure where that's located exactly.

In steam/steamapps/common/bgee/data (or thereabouts) there's a portrait.bif file. It may be there. In which case you'll need another program (near infinity or DLTCEP or something) to extract it. Not worth the effort, really.

I'm not sure where your particular file is located though as I didn't get that dlc myself. It may be somewhere else entirely.

It would probably be easier for you to google the pic yourself, edit it yourself as per above instructions - ie make your own replacement.

Much easier and quicker.

Incidentally when it does load on a new character its all blurry.. but i can live with blurry

That's because you don't have a portrait folder containing any portraits in your my documents/baldur's gate ii - enhanced edition/

I had the same thing.

Make a folder in there called "Portraits", make sure you have properly sized 24-bit .bmp pics and you should be fine.

at this point tho id settle with just picking any portrait at all but it wont let me have my old save from bg ee and select a portrait.

You need a program that can resize images and convert to .bmp if necessary.
Photoshop, ideally.

But GIMP is a free download which does the same thing.

MS Paint may even do it, i have no idea.

Once you have that, follow the linked intructions.

But at least you should be able to use it for for the small pic.

Yeah but i should not have to resize anything should I? As the home dir was BG1EE so it is already sized properly so that cant be it. When im making a new character i can see the portrait but it just wont transfer to the actual game..
