iirc, higher Sparke means you start off with more Style at the beginning of the combat or something like that. i remember seeing something about it somewhere in game.
At 0 Sparke, you can stack Style up to 100%.
With 100 Sparke -> 200%
I don't know if it still works like this but that was the case in 2014.
Physique affects Max HP (only character's innate Physique affects HP).
Sparke affects Starting Style.
Hackitude determines which programs are usable.
Cunning affects Ailment Power, Ailment Defense, Item Damage, and gives a slight speed bonus.
Physique/Sparke/Hackitude also affect damage of the various character abilities. Physique & Sparke affect your physical and magic defense respectively along with your shield stats.
is there a way to determine which abilities are Sparke and which are Hacktitude? some are obvious, such as Drown, but others could be either, like say Zap, or even something like Purification Torch, which, uses a "gun" so you'd think Hackitude, but Chahn's Hacktitude is low, etc.
Ditto.
My suggestions:
Something like Deal Tech damage (like Laser), Deal Magic damage, Deal Physical Damage (like Bash) would be great (Ability description) !
A small「T」(Tech),「M」(Magic),「P」(Physical) before the Ability description.
Or even a small icon in the Ability description or before/after the Ability Name :
Tech : Gear icon or Shield icon (the same one from Equip menu)
Magic : Wand icon (the same one from Equip menu)
Physical : Sword icon (the same one from Equip menu)
Why not make everything Hyper-related that same Cyan color? It's so frustrating to watch all these people ignoring Hyper Mode and all the combat synergies it creates because the UI isn't reinforcing what the text tutorial tells you.
Desesperation is when they are out of HP and I'm pretty sure their sprite are kneeling too. You do more damage (Not sure how much) but you will die if you don't heal yourself.
Style is the % above their HP in battle and is always active. It can go up to 300% and it's a damage bonus up to 100% and between 200-300% it's only for some abilities that use Burst. So at 50% style you do 150% damage and at 100% style you do 200% damage.
Edit: Honestly, you don't need a great understanding of Style or Desperation unless you're playing on hardest. On the left is Style next to the Hyper boxes. Its the %. If its higher than 50%, getting hit below 0 brings you into negative HP. So just try to keep it higher than 50%. Desperation also makes you do more damage, but its really hard to use well and if you use it to attack that character dies (make sure you heal above 0 by the end of their turn!). So very risky to use it that way!
@Apoc I am relatively positive Desperation is a 1.5x damage increase. Its not very large, but if you combine it with Hyper and other modifers you can hit for absurd amounts. Highest I've hit for is 15k in chapter 7 so far. But if that was a desperation attack that would be over 20k!
