The right sentence should be "is this game as terrible as JA BIA?"
BIA is the showcase of a failed JA-game... (it averages at 5/10 or 55/100 on most reviews), it a generic pseudo tactical game at best if you're not an JA fan.
But back to topic, it's a turnbased game, so not like BIA, rather than the JA Online thingy.
Concerning the quality, I'd wait for the 1st patch they promised before I'll judge Flashback.
So take this seriously when I say: Both BiA and JA:O I found more enjoyable than Flashback is currently. And I didn't like either game. Maybe in a few patches that'll change. But at the moment it feels very lacking in features and story. And its buggy.
I was wondering the same as the OP , if this game is anything like JA online then i'm not interested. If it's like the original games or JA-BIA but with turn based then i be interested.
These 2 games (BIA and Online) shouldn't even have the "JA" tag in their name.
i'll agree with that.
I also enjoyed JABIA in it's own way, after i got over the disappointment back then after it's release...
Well, JAF doesn't have the plan&go-system like JABIA has, so it's turn-based like the "originals". You can't pause the game during combat whenever you want and sadly it lacks some of the tactical options rooftops or even several floors or explosives gave JABIA.
The content and environment of the game and the progression of your mercs is kept very simple in JAF yet, even compared to JABIA. If you don't give anything about the originals, characters and "story" shouldn't matter anyway.
The problem with JABIA was, that the devs didn't really care. And that's the big difference to JAF. At least they try to :).
Perhaps you should just keep an eye on this and wait till there are some improvements made. Or you support the further development and buy it right now ;).
Requires the blue sun mod to be playable though.
Lol Id avoid that game like the plague.
This game Id hold off on. Its a decent platform to build on. Ironically though the devs will need your cash to build upon it.
Have I faith they will take it to the next level.... maybe their expectations but probably not mine, given what they did with Space Hulk but that was based on a board game so had limitations.
However I wait to be proved wrong.
Thing is though, the reason the game is in its current state, is because people held off and left it up to others to help bring the game to fruition. The same people that now returns to say I told you soo!!. They failed to do what i wanted them to do, even though I didn't support them".
This, conversely, is damaging the current effort to keep production flowing and bring additional features to the game. Some of the features that some people feel are missing(Even though it was clear from the beginning that the collective efforts of a large development team and 15 years of modding would never fit in anything)
I understand that some might have had their hopes setup for something bigger, even though many do lack a sense of reality with regards to available resources. But why go to such and extent to try and ruin it for the people who actually feel that the end product is decent and has potential for more?
Even looking at the reviews, almost all the negative are upvoted to the 70-80% area, even though a large percentage of the reviews barely have put more than an hour into actually playing the game(At least from their profiles).
Where is the quality control?
