The intel graphics chipsets suck so it's pretty well impossible for them to make it compatible without giving us the worst looking graphics possible.
Mansen Mar 14, 2015 @ 3:44pm
No - That will never happen. (Although never ones actually run - but not great)

Why you may ask? Because Intel makes absolutely horrible iGPU's that don't follow industry standards. You almost always have to change code especially for their chipsets because of it - failing to do so will cause the game to glitch out graphically more often than not.

ok thanks guys

Does it actually say it will not run on Intel Integrated Graphics because the latest GPU the intel 4600 ( in later I5 level CPUs ) is actually good enough to run this game at low graphic level I believe.

Intel iGPU's aren't bad. Iris Pro Graphics is good, and Broadwells new iGPU's are apparently going to challenge AMD's APU's quite well.

Need to pay a lot for the best integrated gpu for the lowest possible graphical settings. lol.

Yeah they work, especially the latest versions.

I have intel integrated graphics on my laptop, and the game runs just fine.

Really because the only reason I haven't bought the game yet was that I thought I couldn't run it but I have the same graphics card on my computer as you

I don't think so, it is a technial dession, may be the naxt years intel grafic can handle it, but intel onboard grafics isn't meant for gaming, so don't complain about it, use a dsignated GPU, a AMD APU or life with it, but don't offend us with your belive everything should also work with the old Intel IGP it has a reson Intel don't produce designated grafics, they don't bother with the problems on drivermainting a new fullspectrum of funktion, form low end to high end each year again.

I can only respond to that opinion with a video - Enjoy.

I have Intel integrated HD graphics 5000 and the game run on it. Not great performance (around 15-20fps) but it runs.

I have an Intel HD4000 and I can run games like the latest Tropico with no problem. Very new game, very graphics intensive, yet they support Intel chips. So why not Paradox and Cities: Skylines?

The thing is, Sim games are, by and large, played by more casual gamers. This is borne out in survey after survey.

Now, before you SERIOUS sim players get all up in arms, I wasn't talking about YOU. I was talking about the masses of people that are generally casual players. They LOVE sim games, and they are the majority of the sim game playerbase.

They also most often own PCs with Intel graphics chips in them. This is also borne out by market studies. So by simple demographics, Cities:Skylines, despite it's huge success, has actually LIMITED itself by not coding for Intel chips. They would have had an even bigger chunk of the gaming pie if they had only spent a few extra hours of coding to support Intel chips.

And frankly, I don't understand the hostility of the "Serious" gamers to doing that. it doesn't take anything away from you if more casual players with Intel chips get to play. Particularly given that this is a single player game. Serious gamers lose nothing if Paradox spends a little bit of extra time to support casual players, and Paradox gains way more money in sales, which it can then plow back into the game for DLC or the next version. It's a win-win. Thus my utter perplexedness at why they aren't supporting Intel chips. It just makes no practical sense.

You seem more than a little confusied, Shounen. I'm not even going to bother explaining why Intel chipsets are bad by design and how much work it can take to make them game compatible since I've already explained this enough times with releases like these (and it's everywhere on the internet)

But - Paradox do not - Have anything do - with the development of the game (aside from testing and bug reporting internally) It's all on Colossal Order's shoulders. A dozen people.
TakedownKG1 Mar 15, 2015 @ 8:31am
You have to realise that Colossal Order are a tiny development team. For them to spend extra time on time on something means focus taken away from other parts of the game. They had deadlines they had to make, just like any other developer.

Mansen, the relative complexity of coding for Intel chips is not really relevant. MANY gaming companies take the time to code for Intel chips, and reap the sales rewards. Besides, as others have stated, Intel chips CAN run the game. It just needs optimization.

So your incredibly negative attitude is perplexing. Do you not want more people to be able to play and join in? I sure would, but I'm not sure I can run it, and I don't currently have the budget for a fancy new gaming PC. I have to play with what I have. Now that the game is released (thus freeing up time for the developers) coding up an optimization patch that would allow Intel chip users to play seems like a worthy effort.

Also, Paradox is the parent company of Collossal Order. Stop being so pedantic, you know perfectly well they can assign people to assist Collosal if they want to.
