Silent Storm

Silent Storm

Will there ever be a new Silent Storm game?
Nival is still around, I don't see why not. This game is truly amazing, they could make tons of money off of a new game with an updated engine, just imagine how good it could be with technology eleven years more advanced than when this came out.

I hope so! I also think this is one of the best games in the genre, and would like to see a sequel.
isn't Hammer&Sickel kinda an Sequel or am I wrong?I thought it were the same Devs.

As I know, Hammer & Sickle was originally a mod, and turned into an entirely new game, I've heard nothing good of it though. I want a full sequel, something so packed with new content, the disc case will need to be strapped shut to stop it from bursting open, while still staying true to the original.
We can only hope for a new silent storm game. Hell, a full remake I would gladly take. As long there are no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ panzerklein in it! Worst design choose ever.
Hammer & Sickle wasn't bad, but it was even more confusing and inconsistent than this game :). We can only hope that someone does what the Xenonauts team did, and create an updated version of Silent Storm, without most of the flaws.
Hammer & Sickle is a good game. It has a different structure (more rpg elements), but gameplay is just as good. There are new missions, new weapons and etc. Its absolutely worth playing if you liked Silent Storm.

Hammer and Sickle could have been a good game if it had been polished much better, the story devolped more (why did the sentinal killed Vaclaw and his guys again?) and was not ball busting hard. The music also suck hard.

I think the reason we have seen no knock-offs or remakes of this is because it's incredibly difficult to do one. We see lots of Jagged Alliance knock-offs, some of them very good (7.62 High Calibre), probably some X-COM knockoffs, and Xenonauts as a remake. Jagged Alliance and XCOM based games are easy to make (Except for 7.62, which is quite complex), they're effectively 2D made to simulate 3D, with board game logic in the programming. However, Silent Storm has full dynamic environmental destruction, and simulation of projectiles as they travel. The latter I have only otherwise seen in Apeiron games (Not counting FPS games), and the former I have never seen in any top down game since.

I would not call 7.62 "very good" but as a game with high ambtion that faild that reach them. I love the ♥♥♥♥ out of the game, but it is so damn hard and buggy, glitchy and such, that I have never finshed it.

I killed whatever that dude was that you were supposed to kill, so I technically finished it. It's an amazing game with the Blue Sun Mod, I've never played it without it though. Unfortunately Apeiron is now dead from everything I can gather, which sucks since they were really the only people making more recent tactical games that aren't basically virtual boardgames with shiny graphics and animation (XCOM:Enemy Unknown, I'm looking at you.)
I love the game but have never gotten past that DAMN Ural Complex mission. Between the PKs you encounter for the first time (3 of them! and they like to group up), the commander blowing up the base and the restricitve pathing you have to follow to avoid an open confrontation, it's a nightmare. Next time, exercise some common goddang sense in mission deisgn.

Next time they better not have ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Panzerkleins! They are one of the worst Design chooise ever.
If you're playing as Axis use PWM-1 grenades (item code 358), they will usually kill or disable a PK in one hit. I haven't found any Allies weapons that come close to this so if you find some PWM-1s save them!

OT: I absolutely love this game engine. They were busy making Jagged Alliance 3 on the same engine but they abandoned it :<
you can see the same destructible environment in play here: http://www.jaggedalliance.de/newsimg/ja3-jan-08-2.jpg

I'd be fine with them including panzerkleins, they just need to add more ways to destroy the damn things. In Silent Storm, the only ways to destroy them were the PWM, laser cannon thingy, and using other panzerkleins. Sniper rifles, grenades, even anti-tank rocket launchers did nothing to them. That could easily be changed in a new one.
The Sea-Devil rifle from one of the Switzerland random encounters is also good, it does almost full damage to the guy inside the PK
