Speed Inconsistency in Online Play
Hi, I'm new to the game - but I just had a race with a colleague, both using the same cars... and his car was considerably faster.

So we had a second race, I used a Class 1, he used a Class 5 - and his car was just as quick.

Any ideas? It was very strange!

^^ I am the above mentioned, Mr Farmers car appeared to be juttery and constantly has a stream of smoke/dust trailing behind him asif driving with breaks on, however we also had differing speedometer readouts, at my top speed of 180km/h (class 1) I was litteraly running circles around his car reading 240km/h in a class 5.

Hi Mr Farmer and TheSignal,
one possible explanation to your problem is that Mr Farmer's PC is not fast enough for RWR. Does the game run in slow motion on his machine? RWR is meant to run at 60fps and it automatically downgrades the frame rate to 30fps on slower computers. On certain configurations (mostly on laptops) the game can't even run at 30 fps so it just runs in slow motion. Can you please check if this is your case?
Another possibility is that there is something wrong with Mr Farmer's network connection (a firewall or a proxy that adds latency to network packets?) but honestly this is unlikely.
Please let us know, thank you.

Is there anyway to cap my framerate to 30fps that would allow us to play together?

Hi TheSignal,
players who run the game at 30fps and those who tun it at 60fps can play together without problems in multiplayer mode. The problem we mentioned is that possibly Mr Farmer PC can't even reach 30fps and the game runs in slow motion. You can notice it on the initial 3 seconds countdown; if it lasts more than 3 seconds it means that your computer is not powerful enough to play RWR. This is just a hypothesis given the little data at our disposal. Is it possible to know the PC configuration of Mr Farmer?
Thank you.

Assuming your graphics card is integrated in the i7-2670QM, this means you are using an Intel HD 3000[www.videocardbenchmark.net], which is in our experience a pretty borderline case for achieving steady 30 fps in Real World Racing.
You might try the following and see if it helps:
- Since this is a mobile processor and you are likely using a laptop pc, be sure to play with AC adapter plugged in, as to avoid power saving states which may limit graphics performance
- Disable any unnecessary application or service which may be running in the background before launching RWR, this may include messaging, backup software, aggressive antivirus or firewall programs
- Switch to the "Performance" video setting while in game from the options menu
- Try racing in tracks that do not feature dusty terrain, and see if the frame rate gets better when compared to other races, as particle effects are known to require sensibly more resources

Hi Playstos :csgoglobe:!
Can you please tell me if this (linked comment) :csgoglobe: is a bug or intended? Thanks! :p2cube:
