afaik not really
the first two characters have a sort of overview in the manual
the next two do not

however there are tons of builds that make characters play completely differently on their own (weapons and their other paths, skill trees, ect)

but each character does play differently in each build from each other

Wyatt has the most variation, with unarmed and stances, to bow with poison or skill cancel stuff, dual swords that can't go magic based or for quick attacks, secret weapon for stuff, and his normal sword which has like 8 different styles
(starts with dark and ligh magic)

Reina has unarmed with agi or an unarmed magic, staff that has a few different types but I'm not knowledgable, totem which is like unarmed but with some differences (and awesome laser), hammer/mace which is powerful yet slow and kind of fun to use, secret weapon which uses something reina doesn't normally have which is fun
(starts with two divine magic, pretty fun)

Vladyn is a ranged build for 3 of his weapons they have different stats and different heavy attacks (his normal attack aims for enemies), his unarmed is awesome and fun, and his secret weapon is magic/physical based
(starts with light magic and his summon magic which effects a lot of things when leveled)

Gilda has a double jump off the start but can still get the normal one and uses the magic button to restore magic quickly, her play style is very different as her weapon changes her normal attack and each is based off a different stat but they are also similar, her heavy attack depends on the magic you have.
(starts with dark and poison magic)

other than that though you can do pretty much anything with them

Ey that worx lol
What do you meam Wyatt's sword has like 8 dif styles though? Do you mean upgrade paths? Or it has an actual style system like his unarmed does?
Didn't rlly use his base sword since it seemed boring as all hell tbqh

Yes, Wyatt has the most builds available because Purgatory has 8 upgrade paths. And you wouldn't believe it, but they don't play the same, for exemple, you spam heavies with King Purgatory, and a stealth Assassin Purgatory build goes for backstabs.

Plus, Purgatory has a very interesting moveset, with a launcher move when you press the jump button during a combo, which gives very interesting options, such as overhead into aerial heavy...all in all, a much more complex moveset that you'd suspect.

Doesn't it just have

Light combo into uncancelable finisher
Heavy
Light in air
Heavy in air
Jump in combo to launch

Same as the light swords? A very small moveset really. Bigger than most in this game prolly but I kinda assume unarmed wyatt is the only wep with much depth in its actual moveset rather than its potential to be built around (which would be a more enjoyable aspect if you could respec weapon upgrades and they didn't use limited per run items that also permanetnly unlock your 5th wep - which is what I used them on)

Seems that we just haven't the same definition of a big/small moveset. As for unlocking the 5th weapon, you can just do it in a run using your Fists, Unarmed cannot be upgraded.

Also, to me, it's more interesting to do the whole game with a set build in mind rather than choosing the best weapon/build for the current situation, the game isn't really designed to change your build on the fly.

You can just do it with the dark blades and only upgrade them once like I did. Presumably light too but those are boring. Provided you googled that its a limited resource before hand. Which I luckily did since I only found out dark wep is a thing when googling stuff to do before finishing game.
Think I unlocked it like right before the final boss and used fists up 'till that point
