This element should be added to existing quests.
The blood letting quest has a few interesting elements to it - most notably dropping the skull in the hydra pond and fighting the skeleton hydra - but is way too complicated to ever be feasible :/
The ogre one would be quite fun, too :D
"If you do not fight the world, the world will fight you"
Besides the item being whole damn OP (except vs the Attack Damage Carries) I'd say add like 60 seconds to it, or chain it over the team, as this will be asking for problems on the teamfights
Why isn't this here yet D:- I kind of imagined a quest like this'd exist...
- Task: Kill as many Dryads as you can.
- Saturation/ Concentration: No more than 10 Spawned at one time. During their lifespan they can call the neutral camps into service and fight the Forest's Intruders. Neutral camps the answer the call to arms get a movement speed buff that is greater the farther away they are from the Dryad calling. In the immediate area around the Dryad the neutral monsters get an attack buff and defense buff. (nothing too mean please) If a Dryad is not downed in 20 seconds (or 15 sec) They turn into a Tree, recover health, and will not change until it is out of Player LOS for 5 sec.
- Area: The Forest ("Jungle")
- Success: Team with the most Dryads Killed by the end of 5 minutes gains the "Branch of Allure" allowing each player to have as many as 2 (or 3) neutral monsters (excluding Troll, Shaman, Hydra, or any other special neutral monsters) follow them as a pet.
~ The Vagabond's Blade
-Task: Gather 3 Meteor Metal (bought for 50 gold each from the merchant that appears in the bottom right corner, where the Ogre with treasure usually spawns), 2 Sylvanhoof Antlers (from spawning Sylvanhoof Stags), 1 Well of Life Water (from a well guarded by Wood Imp Shaman), and 1 Bottled Sprite (appearing throughout the map in equal time periods, changing it's place every 15 seconds; can appear on lanes also and be captured and given to the player performing the quest); Take these materials to the Weaponsmith from the East (spawning in the top left corner) and wait until he crafts his finest weapon.
-Enemies: 2 Sylvanhoof Stags, 1 Wood Imp Shaman with Wood Imp retinue (3 Wood Imp Warriors)
-Area: Randomly throughout the forest area, possibly in lanes with the Merchant selling Meteor Metal in bottom right corner and Weaponsmith operating in the top left corner.
-Success: Player who finishes the quest receives the Wavequeller - a blade that makes its bearer calm as water, agile as a sea-serpent and furious like a Tsunami, granting him bonuses to evasion, lower cooldown on abilities and making his basic attacks apply "Torrential Fury" on-hit effect every 10 seconds (think Kunkka's "Tidebringer" passive ability) throughout the duration of the Quest Reward.
By far my favorite part of your suggestion; that level of randomness would be sort of thrilling to take advantage of (even if you add a second of duration or two =P)
-Description: The quest begins when the sun sets, when a randomly picked player on both teams turns into a Werewolf. While in this state, the player gains increased HP regeneration and slightly increased damage, attack speed and area of vision BUT suffers from 50% lower total HP pool and slower movement speed (Werewolf is a hulking monstrosity, after all.) To lift the curse, the player must locate Silverfang Amulet, which is carried by a thief that runs fast throughout the jungle (and uses underground tunnel at designated location to switch from top to bottom jungle and vice-versa, as to avoid getting caught on lane in the crossfire). To make the matters worse, the local Witch Hunters have gathered to hunt down these monsters, either setting down stun traps throughout the jungle, patrolling or waiting in ambush.
-Enemies: periodicaly spawning Witch Hunter posses with three members: Witch Hunter armed with a rapier and a flintlock pistol for long range engagements, Trapper with flintlock musket and traps to set, and a Zealot with burning torch and a hatchet; the posse can consist of any combination of these three characters, with AT LEAST 1 Witch Hunter in each combo (1 WH - 2 TR/ 3 WH/ 1 WH, 1 TR, 1 ZL/ 1 WH, 2 ZL etc.); 1 Thief, although he doesn't attack the player but tries to elude him by boosting his movement speed for 3 seconds (moments before caught) and throwing Blinding Satchels on junctions in the jungle (he has only TWO charges for Blinding Satchels.)
-Area: Randomly throughout the jungle.
-Success: Player who manages to obtain the Silverfang Amulet from the Thief gets the Lycanthrope's Curse lifted from him, retaining (and further increasing) the buffs he had in Werewolf form while suffering no penalties to his total HP and Movement Speed.
-Both teams fail: Cursed players remain as Werewolves until the start of a new quest (or until hunted down and killed by Witch Hunters), with Witch Hunter Warbands (up to 6 members, with increased defensive and offensive attributes so they actually pose a threat) hunting them all over the map.
Witch Hunter posse gains "Knowledge of Silver's Power" buff dealing 2x damage to werewolf. OR more.
I approve! It only makes sense that the Witch Hunters would somehow acquire the Silverfang Amulet and study it in order to kill the accursed beasts on both teams. Add to this a debuff as in 30% increased respawn time if the Werewolf player got killed by the Witch Hunters and you've got yourself a quest that is a MUST to be accomplished by either of the two teams.
Ironclad needs to "forcefeed" their playerbase with Quests. Dire consequences should apply for each quest left unfulfilled by both teams. I would experiment with such an idea this early, while the game is still in Beta, and await reactions from the players.
I don't know about that haha; your average Steam denizen is hardly a savvy, proactive individual
As for the "race" to produce content...I think just the fact that entire 5v5 queues will open up like crazy to be enjoyed by those awaiting them for years now (playing alongside newcomers eager for instant gratification) will tide us over surprisingly well. Add 2v2 queues and upcoming features to the mix (huge jungling overhauls, new quest reward system, etc.) and the game will have much more replayability than say, League of Legends boasted in an equivalent phase of development.
