Dark Matter
Scammed ?
Do you think they launched the game knowing the ending was poor to get some money back ? I heard they fired all their developers and this is all they had done. They also had a kickstarter that never reached even 20% of its goal so maybe their just trying to grab what money they can ?

I certainly wouldnt doubt it. Seems there are more and more devs using Steam as a dumping ground for failed projects clearly unfinished. The last 3 months have been very bad and Ive been with Steam 9 years. There were never this many and not as glaring as this. Swords of the Stars II was one of the worst, and first to dump its unfinished goods on Steam. Then well WarZ, and since there are no penalties, nothing stops them.

Absolutely. Just read any dev response; fast talking con-man language everywhere.

I'm not defending them, but they did work around the clock for well over a year to get SotSII functional.

There's a diference between release and create. That released date it's the date that when the game was officialy released at steam and not the actually release date of the game. Of course first, these games go to greenlight hoping to be voted for the official release at steam, so devs can hopefully get more ppl paying and playing their games.

Valve needs to put their foot down good and hard with these developers.

The same goes for the ancient games from the 90's being marketed as new
and being sold for $10 and up but don't have Windows 7/8 support let alone
proper widescreen support.

There's been a flood of crap that belongs on GOG, not Steam.
you don't even know the game was made in the 90's unless you
read te description carefully.

Quite a few retro games deserve a spot on Steam, as long as they fully support current operating systems. It's nobodies fault but their own if people aren't willing to spend five seconds to gloss over the screenshots and information readily available on the store page.

Older games, even those without widescreen support, have as much right to be on Steam as anything else. There are hundreds, if not thousands of older games that hold up incredibly well even today.

Steam titles should never have major compatibility issues at the time of their release. New or old. This honestly should go without saying and I already mentioned this in my post. I'm not sure why you felt the need to reitterate it.

Steam's bizarre policy to only state a title's release date to the store should change. It's absolutely misleading, although in the case of Pinball Dreams 3D there shouldn't be any compatibility issues.

What the Dark Matter developers did was disingenuous at best. I'll never condone their practices and neither should anyone else. That said, the release of older (functional) titles to Steam seem irrelevant to what they've done.
I wasnt even aware of this...got the game (needed a cheap platformer)

had no clue the game just cuts out half way...so yeah...not happy with that.

At least steam should give out some discount cupons or something...im typically not a complainer, but i do feel steam should at least make sure the games they sell are not scams...and i wouldnt have bought the game if it had the warning that it now has.
