What exactly makes this a "derelict starship"?
Putting aside the whole discussion about the game's completeness, I've gotta ask -- what exactly about the visuals is supposed to make us believe we're looking at a derelict starship?

It looks like a factory to me. I see rooms with conveyor belts, long hallways and lots and lots of crates. In other words, the same awful level design as thousands of other games out there. It's like, "Here's a cool premise, but uh, you only get to see the service hallways and crate storage..."

Derelict , means abandoned, which essentially the ship is.

he knows what derelict means, it's the fact that they didn't convey starship properly. atleast have some large windows with views of space or something. it might as well be in a factory because there's no evidence of being in outerspace. kinda points to a bad story to visual setting cohesion.
Thank you, Pepper, that's exactly what I mean.

The idea of a ghost ship floating in space for years without human inhabitants is an intriuging one and a great setting for a science fiction game, and it could be amazing if executed properly. But corridors and crates don't make players feel like they're in a vast starship, they make us feel like we've played this crappy level dozens or hundreds of times in the past, in many different games.

Think of the original Dead Space and the Ishimura, with its atriums, tram stations, laboratories, and even entire decks of the ship that were like miniature "towns" for the inhabitants.
To look totally abandoned in a platformer would look too bland.
Well, windows in a spaceship is 99% of the time a waste and a weakness in the structure. so for the most part the only places with windows would be observation decks and the pilots area.

Another thing we dont know is...how big is this ship ? if it does have it's own 'tram' transportation systerm then it must be quite big, so we might be in the 'middle of the ship crawling in the maintenance areas for the most part.

However I do to some extent agree, the only place i do feel like it is sort of a massive huge spaceship is in the 'last' room were the is the green tubes and stuff spilling out and things seem to stretch a bit out...

But then again, if we revisit a movie such as ALIEN, the nostromo didnt exactly have huge open spaces nor tons of windows, but insted lots of cramped claustrophobic areas, airducts and boxes on the ground....

I think a bit more hanging electric wires from the ceilings and hissing pipes and such would help a lot in giving it a bit more spaceship like feel
