"Here's a quick word about possible portability of Underrail because I get asked this a lot.
The reason why Underrail is Windows only is because it's built using C# and .NET, and based on Microsoft's XNA technology.
Now, because Microsoft has since decided to discontinue their XNA development I will also be moving away from it in the development of future games.
One of the possible alternatives is Monogame, which as I understand is a cross-platform implementation of XNA based on Mono (the cross-platform .NET implementation). So if I decide to try out this technology in some future development I will test it out by trying to port Underrail to it.
So it's possible that as some point we will see Underrail on Linux and Mac, but that certainly won't be anytime soon and neither can I make any concrete promises regarding that."
Dude I would SOOOO much play this game on Linux. Make this thread sticky so you will see that there is some good interest in it!
M$ keep making bad decisions and you want to keep using their tools/technologies? Even if it's a open implementation, sounds a bad idea. Try something that is out of the reach of big companies' decisions, 'cause they only think about making more and more money, they don't care about the devs' or artists' work.
Learning and working with something that is already consolidated, open, powerful and portable is always a good decision.
Keep the good work =)
i am personally using it on a personal project and i am so far really impress by it. I think its a perfect tool for a indie developper (you dont have to pay a dime during production and they have many different license who are easilly accessible to a indie developper).
Currently this suggestion is number two in top ideas.
And it's really pleasure to know that UnderRail based on .NET technology :)
-1000000 for Mac or Linux port, just get a cheap pc , they sell them now at 300-400$ all include. The problem with multiplatform games is that all those games suck on every platforms.
Please keep underail PC only and invest all you time and energy making the best pc game ever.
I do hope Microsoft will do something for us Line of Business Application developpers.
We want a good serious .Net game engine from Microsoft, We spend all our weeks working like robots for the corporates, it will be only just and natural for all those corportate guys to put some real investement in a professional gaming engine, so we can at least have some real fun coding during week end.
c'mon guys following steam stats all the differents linux OS are not even 0.2% of total market. Its time for all those linux fanatics to stop beeing greedy, you can now have a cheap copy of windows for around 50$.
