As far as the censored subject goes, it's so very taboo in games that it would be bad for business. I can't count the number of books, movies and TV that I've encountered it in, but it's a huge "no-no" for video games. Probably a mixture of the mainstream media still viewing them as a children's toy, and the interactive nature. Gritty or not, appropriate to the world or not, I don't see it happening.
It's not like it would really add much. Romance generally adds plot... What would the other choice be? Click "Force yourself on the refugee" and... roll to succeed? Unless we have some subquest dealing with the consequences of it, like some revenge plot, or we dish out the revenge for someone else doing it, I don't see the point. Evil actions in games should have counter-actions.
As for the sexual violence and such, it won't happen. Despite the hostile setting, I try to keep the brutality to a manageable level as I want the game to be accessible to younger players as well.
The homestead comment make sense to me and I like the idea of the possiblity of losing my partner due to raiders. I suggested a plot involving raider's actually doing there job and "raiding". You could have a kid if your partner lives and have sub plots about your kid maybe. If we went that far though we'd have to implement eating and other realistic things. Almost combine this game and "Neo Survivor".
yeaahh...shucks...
+1 ( I hate dating simulators, or trying to bring that aspect no matter how light into a RPG )

I can understand...but personally I enjoy dark gritty worlds being fully dark and gritty...it makes it all seem MUCH more real and immersive.
And while you loose out on children playing you might gain a larger audience overall because people appreciate games that make a world seem real...and god knows many people are sick of seeing characters murder countless people without a care but yet say eye-rolling things like "Oh no you stabbed my friend with a knife! You've murdered him you dirtball!" *sigh*
Just a light dusting, just a sprinkle or two? Definitely the height of sophistication and taste in an ArrrPeeGee.
