I don't think there are any quests that give oddities as rewards and I don't think that is intended, otherwise leveling up in oddity mode will be quicker/easier. Both systems are pretty much balanced with each other ATM.
Also, isn't there an oddity in the house you get the knife from? I can't remember. Plus theres a fair bit of cash in there so you get something out of it even if you don't keep the knife.
Though in oddity there are some side quests you can completley neglect if the items are of no use to you (like collecting a sample from the rathound, good for a crossbow/psi build, pointless if not) but likewise in classic spending time to collect oddities isn't really necessary (most only give you 100xp which at higher levels you can take it or leave it: wont be adding much/missing out on much) i.e you can neglect exploring and focus on the quest objectives...
Basically both the systems provide different play styles, which is why I like that they are both available. I feel oddity should be experienced as a first play through for the full exploration but on a second playthrough you could play classic and not have to re vist certain areas in their entirety, though you could do that the other way round.
Overall it is a pretty unique game with many possibilites in builds/play styles all the way down to how you can level up.
Understand man I am very opinionated as well ;) I agree completely and cant wait as well for many many games from Stygian Software.
