and the assault rifle is doing like 40+ still doint see how a crossbow is on the same level as an assault rifle.....
admitadly i was abit salty at the time lol, if im doing poor damage with guns i must be doing somthing wrong maybe
base stats at level 5 are str:4 dex: 6 agilaty:7 con: 7 per:4 will:7 int: 6
Damage usually is based on skill - while player's skills are pretty low, so no matter what weapon players really uses (sledge, crossbow, automatic rifle, sniper rifle) it will be always weaker compared on the pre-made enemies.
Preparing traps, right usage of right grenades, hit-n-run or plain "I will get you later"... it is about the infinite options. One may say "but how should I outsmart 5 burrowers who surrounded me?" - yeah, you should have avoided that situation to happen.
Or "there are not enough skill points to become jack-of-all-trades, I just can't use 2 different weapons + traps + stealth + grenades + medicine + special powers" - right, from the all usefull skills one has to choose only few. And even these few do not have often high enough level to allow all cool stuff (many weapons have high minimum requirement, special powers are not cheap are the most basic ones require skill level of 25 and more...) but fact that player can start a fight over and over again - leaves us with statement -> this game does not limit you, your own imagination does.
I did go through character creation multiple times, and when I invested into throwing, I was missing crossbows or guns, when I chose 2 ranged skills, I had not enough to invest into melee and without good melee - I wasted resources on ammo. Especially grenades are very valuable.
And special powers are the worst - not only they require PSI, they have even cooldowns... till Today I have not found the perfect build, but I found a solution for each fight (sometimes I ended up rage-quitting and also wanting to uninstall .. but as this happenned later in the game, I always felt that I invested too much time in this game to just give up. Probably if I would miserably fail on first few fights - I would also unistall. )
Do not give up, the true joy comes from solving seemingly impossible puzzles / fights.
It is a strategy game. You are expected to make strategic decisions.
For example, this is your first opportunity to learn what happens when you shoot an explosive barrel with your gun.
And if you use the least bit of strategic thinking, you will take that shot when the dude with the crossbow and his rats are standing beside it.
There's actually no reason for that guy to ever even take a single shot at you. They purposefully give you a narrow path from the exploding barrel with 90 degree turns in it so that after you get his attention, you can move away without ever leaving him with a line-of-sight shot at you.
This encounter was your 1st test to see if you can use some strategic planning.
You failed.
And MADNESSXD11, while I do understand your point that a crossbow bolt should realistically never do more damage than a bullet, please remember that this is just a simple turn-based RPG, and the balancing of gameplay and realism must always be skewed towards improved gameplay.
Thank you both.
Nothing you said is relevant to helping them improve their gameplay.
What I gave was actual advice relevant to the exact situation they were in that would hopefully shift their mindset towards a greater tactical awareness of the situations they encounter in the game.
But hey, if you prefer to make useless comments about real-life vs video games and offer no actual advice relevant to the game, while insulting me, then go ahead.
If that's all you have to offer then so be it.
You know, arrow is big and it stays in the wound till it removed, also bulletproof vests doesn't work against arrows or bolts.
Completely silent, huh? Guess you've never use a crossbow in real life.
Like THUNK, then sweeeeeeeeeeeeeee, SCHK, "aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrghhhhhhhhhh I'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dyiiiiiiiiiiing piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiss"
Talking about IRL.
Scroll up a bit.
