Does the sound work in linux 64 bit?

I've just got the linux demo of this game from the wolfire website, and having heaps of trouble getting the sound to work. The problem being it relies on OSS which most distros have ditched in favour of ALSA and PulseAudio.

There are wrappers and emulators of course, but because it's a 32 bit game and I have a 64 bit system they come with all sorts of other problems with only very messy workarounds.

My question is, does the steam version come with these problems, or does it work more or less out of the box?

Probably more out of the box, but you can replace the openal library that shipped with the game with a newer one to get PulseAudio or ALSA support.

Out of the box for me on Kubuntu 12.10 64-bit
