Overgrowth

Overgrowth will probably be switching to Unreal Engine 4.
Thoughts or opinions on this?

I think that's awesome!
UE4 is an awesome and easy engine.

Thanks.

I think a port to unreal 4 will be awesome. I can see it looking better and performing far better. Not to mention the fact that they said it would help them make the game faster.

If it's going to make development faster, then I say David should go for it.

That was one of the main reasons he named for it in the video.

It IS kinda of a shame though that he put so many resources, time and effort into creating his own engine from scratch, just to switch to another one now after so many months/years.

So what about all the resources and years than he has invested in working on his (very cool) engine? I'm not sure I like the idea. It's a shame, if I were the creator of a game engine like that, that would be something than I would be very proud, so just to left it by side and change it to another would make me feel very sad about it. Maybe they should add more people to work in the engine to progress faster if thats what they want. Besides, what about the performance on older machines (since UE4 will probably be pointing on a higher OGL implementation)? Will it even run on older cards than already run Overgrowth properly? They should think about it too.

I can see where you're coming from, but I'm not sure that they should stick with something that is unfortunately probably inferior, because it would be a "shame".

I think they should base the descision purely on how it would affect their development, personally.

But yeah, doing a ton of work to find it may have been for nothing is quite a shame.

i would love if it switched to unreal. the workflow would be much faster and we can get a finished game much quicker
