1. Crash at startup: Update your video drivers!
Intel: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/

2. Crashes at startup and you have a Laptop with a dedicated video card
Make sure the game starts on the NVidia or AMD GPU instead of the integrated GPU (usually Intel). You can do that from the NVidia Control Panel or from the Catalyst control panel. For AMD, you can also try right-clicking on the game’s executable and choose “Run using Radeon HD...”.

3. Strange game behavior: Verify Steam cache / reinstall the game
If you see enemies going through walls, missing textures or other game bugs that couldn't have happened with such skilled people working on the game, verify the game's Steam cache files. Read this on how to do it: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335

4. You changed the resolution to one that is larger than your screen and now you can't select Options again
You need to delete this file and run the game again:
Windows: Documents/KillHouseGames/DoorKickers/options.xml
MacOS: ~/Library/Application\ Support/DoorKickers/options.xml
Linux: /home/username/.local/share/DoorKickers/options.xml

5. Game freezes, lag, sound glitches
Go to where the game is installed and rename OpenAL32.dll to OpenAL32.old. Now rename OpenAL32_haccel.dll to OpenAL32.dll

6. Progress is not saved
Solution1: Make sure Bitdefender (or another antivirus, but usually Bitdefender) is not blocking write access to the Documents folder.

Solution2: Controlled Folder Access from Windows 10 could be blocking access to the Documents folder. Go to Defender Security Center -> Virus & Thread Protection -> Settings -> Controlled Folder Access. If it's turned on, add an exception for DoorKickers.exe.

Solution3: Do you have a Windows username with special characters (Unicode)?
If so, there is currently a bug in our game that makes saving impossible with Unicode usernames. For the moment, the only solution is to change your username.

7. Linux: various issues
Launch game with LC_ALL=C
Right-click game in Steam library->Properties->General->SetLaunchOptions and write LC_ALL=C

8. Cannot control characters in certain areas of the screen
Cause: the windows game/streaming bar that shows up on the right part of the screen.
Try disabling that and see if it works: press Windows Key+G when the game is running and the game bar shows up. Then you click on the settings button from that bar and uncheck “show tips when I start a game”. Then you restart the game.

9. If your problem still persists, send an email at devteam (at) inthekillhouse(dot)com with the file Documents\KillHouseGames\DoorKickers\log.txt and any crashdump.zip files you can find there.

If Linux: /home/username/.local/share/DoorKickers/log.txt

i found a glitch where i went to theoption menue and my game was still going on and i deid and i was stuck on the options menue

also heres just a sugestion and me and my friend agree on this but a mode to controll soldiers would be cool

i don't get the ridiculously high video card requirements. I can play crysis and other new games on my machine, but this game needs a higher system spec? ridiculous.

Hi there, I understand you're not able to play the game? Have you tried installing the latest video drivers?

It seems highly unlikely that a computer that runs Crysis cannot run our game.

I had an issue since alpha 7 where both my moniters seemingly frame cleared alternatively (rapid black flickering on both) and frequently crashed to desktop while loading to the main menu. I fixed the issue by going into My Documents/KillHouseGames/DoorKickers/options.xml and changing the mode from 1 (windowed fullscreen) to 0 (windowed).

I think it has to do with an incompatibility with my unusual main monitor native resolution (1768x992) and having dual monitors with the windowed fullscreen mode.

Just wanted to post this workaround, incase anyone else has a fringe case like this.
