is it just me/my game or do the chipmunks in the crash scene at the start of the game sound like monkeys?

Yes, they do. They couldn't get chipmunk sounds so they used monkey sounds instead.

Although monkies are more expensive to employ, they are far better mannered in the modern workplace than chipmunks and also more flexible to the roles they can fill.
