Another game?

Is spore galactic adventure a different game entirely? Or now that I downloaded it can I just play normal spore and all the new stuff will be there.

Sort of both. Galatic Adventure is an addon that requires you run it instead of vanilla spore. All your saves and progress will carry over though.
