Walk away from the crown option.
There needs to be a choice to walk away from the crown of command if you are up there to descend and get back to the board. These ♥♥♥♥ers are trotting about, just flitting back and forth from the church, replenishing their lives like there's no tomorrow. It takes time to kill them, far too long, and it gets boring.

On top of that, let me tell you about the game I just had. So I'm Strength 13 Craft 11, sitting on the crown. I've nuked the ninja and the troll to death and it's just the Martyr who is Strength 3, Craft 5.

So Im trying to nuke her, but not only does she have the magic carpet so she can visit the church when ever she rolls a six, but also 12 gold for healers and the ♥♥♥♥ing totem pole to trade trophies for two lives a pop and she keeps fighting all these craft 2 or strength one lil ♥♥♥♥♥.

I want the option to come back down, pop her in the mouth and jam her ♥♥♥♥in totem pole right up her ♥♥♥♥! When you're sitting with the crown and the enemies have ten million life giving things spilling out their pockets and keep some how rolling the church, its no fun and lasts forever. True, you can turn life gaining off when someone's on the crown, but there HAS to be an option to walk back down and kick em in the teeth.

Don't forget though, that she can just sacrifice one of her extra lives to automatically win the combat. So you better be prepared to lose a few things until she runs out of lives. And don't forget she can teleport to the church again with her carpet. Eventually, she'll sacrifice lives just to beat you and take your lives. Good luck.

I had a game like this that went many turns past arriving on the Crown. The Vampiress had the totem and plenty of followers and a high enough strength and craft to hang out getting followers all day. I finally wore her down. But it doesn't seem a good idea to allow leaving the crown.

Just exclude standard ending, it's the most boring anyway :P
And if you are going to use the standard ending, in the name of all that is holy, enable the "No more lives" house rule.

Exactly the reason I disable the standard ending for most of the games I play. The Scepter and Crown ending fills the same theme while being a lot faster. Playing against other people I might stick with the standard ending since there's more likely to be a big fight in the middle once one person gets close to winning, but the AI faffs around too much for it to be anything other than a drawn-out slog most of the time.

Great reply, well thought out, great facts to support statement. 10/10
EPC is a little terse, but he's usually right. There are already options in-game to prevent this exact scenario.

Basically, the rules for the game forbids a character on the Crown of Command from moving unless something else (such as the Ice Queen or Eagle King alternate endings) either allows or forces him to do so.

Which I mentioned if you had read what I said all the way through, but doesn't stop that thing I mentioned being viable.
Never said it wasn't viable, just that it wasn't necessary. You said there NEEDS and HAS (capitalisation yours) to be a choice to voluntarily leave the crown, and I disagree. The example you gave to justify this is easily avoided by several other means already.

I just won a game a few days ago by doing exactly what the OP is complaining about! I don't know how many times I healed at the Chapel, Doctor or Healer, but it was a lot. Luckily I was Good alignment and had been very lucky in gathering a lot of gold to spend on places other than the Chapel. Eventually I also acquired the Prince and could heal free at the Castle. But I couldn't travel far from any of these places because it seems the player on the Crown was hitting the Command Spell about 70-80% of the time, just the opposite of what I usually seem to do when I'm on the Crown. Eventually I did manage to increase my stats to the point that I could take them on and rid myself of the Warlock's Quest that was hindering getting into the Inner Region. I got to the Crown safely and pounded them into the ground and won the game.

So don't complain that this is a flaw in the game. YOU could be the one not on the Crown and in need of healing repeatedly in order to win.

Exactly, well i dont play vs ai anymore, but iam forced to do it often, because of leavers, anyway if you know that this is the ending, make sure the remaining players are not able to heal, otherwise there is no sense in going to the crown.

It's still something that can be abused in a certain set of rules however and the inability to do anything other than cast a spell each turn that has a 50/50 chance of connecting each turn is a flawed part of the game. A feature in the game that is flawed should not need to be avoided, it should be fixed.

Not only that, but if you set it to hidden ending and want to keep Crown of Command as a possible ending, it stops you from being able to select no more lives, so if someone wants to play the game or enjoys it a certain way, they have to play with the possability of a flawed end run.
