Expansions?

Fate was amazing, and I bought/played through the original game, Undiscovered Realms, and the Traitor Soul. But I do not see the two expansions here yet. Anyone know of any chance we'll see those two pop up here on steam with the inclusion of steamworks?

All-in-one pacjage please..no sense to have just the base game imo, doesn't hold up that well today. Maybe this was released to test the market, and if so I hope it does well enough to get them all here

They will come to steam, no reason for them not to. Not like it cost wild any money to let steam sell the expansions. And if anything this is just bringing there old game some more sells.

Well I did my part and bought it. Hopefully enough people purchasing the standard game will show wild theres enough demand to release all the expansions. I didnt even know Cursed King existed!

I have to agree with kijib on this one... Not worth it for just one game of the series at 7.99. Fate is a great series, but it's also older. I purchased the entire collection for under 10 dollars at Wal-Mart on their bargain software shelf. Currently, you can purchase Fate 1+2+3 CD from Amazon for 8.99 (plus a few extra bucks unless you get free shipping).

I could see paying as much as ~15 for the entire collection on Steam, but it's hard to justify paying any more than that simply because the cost of a physical DRM-free copy is so low, and there are plenty of other ARPG options out there. The Torchlight series goes on sale all of the time (TL1 was free at gog.com not that long ago, and TL2 has been on sale for 5 bucks numerous times). Path of Exile is incredible and FREE(!). And you've got all the Din's Curse / Depths of Peril type options as well.

Fate really is a neat game, but I do think the price is a little insulting to the intelligent consumer. Just my opinion.

see i would love for the game to get more of a popular spotlight than it already has, I was so excited when it came out on steam I had to pick it up, and if the new games come into play, even better. They should definitley be adding the other games, because once they do, ill snatch up those as well, I mean for now, at least I got fate :], oh and If you guys wouldnt mind, I started a playthrough on my youtube channel! Ive been trying to get the word out for others to see, share with friends etc... that way, I can try and help the game resurface so more people play, and I would love to be the go to source for fate on youtube!

I was going to start a new thread on this discussion and basicly want to somehow make people vote for the expansions to be included with the fate game buy. That way there will be a discount or something. So would anyone vote for the expansions to be included with the orginal fate game? I think it would be an awesome idea So that's a yes for me. 1 vote down. LOL

I would like for the authors of this game to just have a stick announcing if there are plans for the fate expansions. Would stop some of the chaos.

What is it about the future updates that you all like?
Personally, for me, it was just the new items and monsters. I hated the new towns, grove is the best, and the fact that undiscovered realms has smaller dungeons (about 1/2 the size of original). Cursed king just seemed too... Complex. There were too many dungeon gates to enter into, quests were too complex, over all it made me want to puke.

But for all you who just want the new items, I am currently working on a mod/rip that will incorporate items from all the newer fates into the original. I'm not much of a programmer, so some items didn't make it (e.g. Capes are not in, tarot cards are not in, earrings are now in the ring class). Currently my mod is functional. It supports a horde of new items without qualms whatsoever.

I've also managed to add new dungeon themes, also ripped from the newer fate expansions. The only problem with this part of my mod is that there are occasionally character loading crashes, which must be fixed by removing the problematic dungeon theme out of the dungeon file until you are in the next level.

A problem with the mod as a whole, is the size of the mod. It is bigger than fate itself, a whopping 550 megabytes. Brutal, I know. That's because like I said, I'm not much of a programmer. However, if this mod is desired by a lot of you here on the forums, I can spend about 2 hours or so to manually shrink the file size. Then it should be as simple as me emailing you the mod. (I would host it on a mod hosting site, but they have all died.)

What I will probably do is first shrink the mod, and the first release will only have items from the expansions. I know that items will work, and there are no bugs I have found, and I've been using the new items mod on an offline version of fate for over a year now.
Then, I'll figure out a way to shrink the dungeon files, which, given, is a lot harder to do without accidentally removing critical information. I'll keep the dungeon theme expansion separate from the item expansion, simply because I know there are bugs with the dungeon generation that could put your fate character at risk.

So, let me know what you think about this. If I get proof that this is worth my time, I'll work on it.

Hay Bakedtoast. For those who are hard core fath fans I say that you're doing the right thing. I personally never played the game so I can't say. That being said. I would go for it if I were you. I think it would be an awesome mod. I would say it would make the fans broud. I think I spelled that right. lol. Keep doing what you love to do even if this is it. Modding and program and all.
