So I've sent an email to Perfection. dev and it was like:
Hey! It will happen. I just need to test it. I'm currently traveling, out on Seattle for Pax, so it may not be until after that.

Hello

Any word about putting Perfection. Linux build on Steam? I already own the game (purchase via Humble Store) and I'd like to add it to my Steam collection (I've heard there will be keys for ppl who bought the game before).

Hi, sorry Linux guys!! I don't actually have a dedicated Linux machine and getting Steam to work on my virtual one has been a challenge :| Please bear with me on this.

If you're on linux and you just want to play, you can always get the game off the website, which comes with a linux version AND a steam key, AND gives the dev a better cut of the profits. http://perfectongame.net

The Linux build is actually there, it's just unplayable... something wrong with the projection code: http://imgur.com/o5uR9UB
The Humble Store version works quite well though.

I can confirm that

Oh? ...That's interesting... considering they use the same runner and all. I wonder if it has to do with the Steam client? grumble grumble.

Oh! The part of the screenshot that actually contains the game... is that the same size as the configure window that opens when the game starts? I wonder if the window size change is doing something unhappy with the Steam client?

Well the game window is the size of desired configured window but display is bugged, just like on screenshot.

Note to take: if I put Humble version as non-steam game launcher in Steam, it works ok.

Proportionally, they're the same size, yes. With resolution lower than 640x400 (in windowed mode) I can actually see most of the game.
As Hard Penguin mentioned, the Steam client has nothing to do that, I'm able to start the game from the command line without Steam running at all...

So, any progress on fixing this? :F

I'm cracking the game open again this week for unrelated work so I'll take a look again. The problem here is kind of... deep? Like, I need to find a way to give you resolution options (which I think ya'll agree you want) but without changing the window size after that screen? Linux users might have to get two executables, one for config and one for just the game. That'll take a minute to set up and get working.

Looking forward to the Linux version.
Ledow Oct 17, 2013 @ 10:57am
Yeah, the Linux version of this on Steam still has the offset problem - seems like the screen size is correct and what the user selected but it doesn't get projected at 0,0 on the screen. This means that some portion of the screen is ALWAYS off the bottom/right of the screen no matter what res you choose or fullscreen/windowed.

If this could be fixed, that would be great.
