Some users are creating a mod to fix the bugs and add new features. They've been working on it for about a year or so now, and sound like they're still planning to work on it at least in the near future.
If you've played a lot of other games like this already, I'd wait until it's on sale and then try it out (it was 0.99 in December, so it'll probably go on sale at that price again at some point). It's not worth the full price, but it's good for a few hours of fun while you try and figure out the game mechanics.

Basicly if you can turn a profit on the cards it might be worth it.
However I would recommend immediately getting the patch if you do purchase this game. Having recently installed the patch my love of this game has increased. Janitors are a real game changer.
Was the “finished” game actually unfinished? I’d have to say yes. At the same time Double Fine’s “finished” version was playable. It just lacked depth and a lot of functionality. That’s where the patches come in though.
The potential of this game combined with the state of its final build seems to have attracted a lot of passionate people that want to fix this game. Their work speaks for itself; I have every confidence that in time this game will be everything Double Fine wanted and more.
or wait until 1.08

I thought that might have been his problem, but he already claimed his refund.
